Our live-online math tutoring program offers students a chance to stay connected to their education, building math and English skills, even while learning from bunkers and shelters. “My tutor really cared about me,” said one student, reflecting on the impact of the program. ???? We are incredibly excited to celebrate the introduction of Congresswoman Jahana Hayes' new legislation – the Students Working for Communities Act! Right now, one in every ten full-time undergraduate students are employed by the Federal Work Study. This transformative legislation will gradually increase the Federal Work Study community service set-aside from 7% to 24% – helping to reduce the cost burden of higher education on students, providing greater capacity for communities to address pressing local challenges, and creating accessible pathways to long-term, community-invested careers for under resourced students. As the lead supporting organization for this new bill, we’ve worked closely with Rep. Hayes, her staff, and our partners at Jumpstart to develop and support this legislation.
