Airbnb.org’s mission is to unlock the power of sharing space, resources, and support in times of crisis. Together, Airbnb.org & Airbnb have helped connect over 300,000 people with temporary stays during environmental and humanitarian crises. This has included refugees and asylum seekers fleeing Ukraine and Afghanistan, people displaced by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, people impacted by the fires on Maui, and so many others. Six things to know about Airbnb.org: ? The work started under Airbnb's Open Homes program in 2012; it transitioned to Airbnb.org, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in December 2020 ? Airbnb.org guests never pay for their Airbnb.org stays. ? We work with nonprofits and government agencies who refer guests to Airbnb.org and may provide many other forms of support during a stay. ? More than 92,000 Hosts in 189 countries and regions have signed up to be Airbnb.org Hosts. Look for the “Airbnb.org Supporter” badge on their profiles. ? Recurring donations from Airbnb Hosts provide a significant portion of our funding. ? Airbnb, Inc. covers Airbnb.org’s operational costs, so 100% of donations go toward supporting our nonprofit partners and covering the cost of temporary stays.

A note from our Executive Director,?Christoph Gorder, sharing an update on?Airbnb.org’s work in response to the LA wildfires.

At Airbnb.org, we believe in the power of community and compassion, especially during times of crisis. Earlier this month, we partnered with 211 LA to provide free emergency housing for the thousands of Angelenos displaced by the devastating fires. I am proud to share that we have already housed over 17,000 people in Los Angeles, providing more than 63,000 nights of free stays. Our partnership with 211 LA has been instrumental in identifying those most in need, and we are dedicated to extending stays for survivors who lost their homes as they begin their journey to recovery. Together, we are working tirelessly to ensure that no family has to go through this alone. Airbnb and Airbnb.org have committed over $26 million to emergency housing efforts in Los Angeles, and we continue to refine our process to better serve those affected. Importantly, we have safeguards in place to protect against misuse of our program. That’s why credits for emergency housing expire within seven days, but if individuals reach out to our customer support team, we can extend their credits or apply them to existing stays—something we've already done for 170 households. We stand with the Los Angeles community and will continue to provide support to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone involved in this effort, especially our partners at 211 LA, for making this possible.

Hurricane Helene caused devastation throughout the Southeastern US. To support relief efforts, Airbnb.org is partnering with local organizations to provide free, emergency housing to survivors, volunteers, and first responders. Learn more about how to get help and get involved below. None of this would be possible without the support of generous hosts who have opened their homes to people for free or at discount to people impacted by the storm. “It has been incredibly challenging to find safe accommodations for people displaced by the storm. I’m inspired by my fellow Airbnb hosts who immediately stepped up to support relief efforts and welcome families into their homes through Airbnb.org, which waives all fees associated with Airbnb bookings. Airbnb.org is a powerful way for hosts like myself to better serve our communities when disasters like Hurricane Helene strike.” - Danielle, Airbnb host in Tampa, Florida

?? Take us back!? Exactly one month ago, we were on the banks of the river Seine in Paris with the Refugee Olympic Team enjoying an evening at La Maison Airbnb on Jardins de Pont Neuf, in an event co-organised by Airbnb, Airbnb.org and the Olympic Refuge Foundation. Airbnb.org created personalized drawings of each of the 37 athletes of the Refugee Olympic Team, which were used to decorate the beautiful boat setting. ???? Speaking at the event, Jojo Ferris, Head of ORF said: “Much like Airbnb, the Refugee Olympic Team was born out of an idea – a different way of seeing the world. As Airbnb and the Olympic Refuge Foundation we are aligned on our values and commitment to creativity and through this shared approach of collaboration we will continue to work together to find a sense of belonging for young people affected by displacement." Airbnb and Airbnb.org support the work of the ORF having donated financially and in kind to the Foundation and allowing all 74 Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holders to benefit from the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant. Airbnb has also supported previous members of the Refugee Olympic Team with temporary housing to allow them to pursue their education and training. ?????? Thank you to Airbnb and Airbnb.org for the ongoing support and making Paris extra special for the athletes through these beautiful memories. ? ?? Designs by the talented Nathan Bell
