We are thrilled to be recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) with an Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement?(OCEA) Honor Award?for our work on the Denver Water Northwater Treatment Plant. Located in Golden, Colorado, the plant is a critical new part of Denver Water’s North System Renewal Program, with the ability to treat 75 million gallons of water daily. SAME Honolulu Post hosted our inaugural SAME STEM Camp in Hawaii this past weekend, right in time for Engineers Week. We are thankful for our amazing 28-person volunteer team! After seven months of planning, their dedication and passion truly shone as they took care of our high school campers. This weekend was all about mentorship, enhancing the STEM pipeline, creating friendships, and learning about STEM careers. Special thanks to camp co-directors Alyssa Agustin, PMP and Samantha Long, PMP! We were honored to welcome the SAME Pacific Regional Vice President Joshua Biggers, PE, PMP, LEED AP, MBA, who shared his career journey with the students. Thank you Josh for driving to and from camp each day delivering hot meals for us to help reduce the workload for our cooks. We were also inspired by NAVFAC Pacific LT Maggie Martins’ presentation about her career journey and the incredible curriculum she prepared for the campers including orienteering through the woods! We had an impactful presentation from CAPT (ret.) Alexander (Al) Hutchison, P.E., F.SAME who helped us understand how we can pursue the things we love in STEM and what types of majors are out there.
