The Science Based Targets initiative's FLAG guidance highlights the urgent need for companies in land-intensive sectors to commit to achieving no-deforestation supply chains by the end of this year to help mitigate climate emissions and preserve vital natural ecosystems. The FLAG no-deforestation commitment is grounded in the Accountability Framework, and the AFi can support companies to achieve it. Find out more in the article below ?? https://lnkd.in/e2csYZh8

See how AFi Coalition member CDP's forest data is leading to stronger action on deforestation ??
Financial impacts from nature-related risks are becoming clearer and require decisive action. The financial strategies that account for these risks are no longer optional. Data availability is often cited as a key challenge hindering effective financial institution (FI)-led action. CDP is surfacing the standardized, globally comparable information that global capital markets have long called for. By leveraging real-economy forest data provided through CDP’s disclosure platform, FIs can contribute to an Earth-positive world.??? Our latest case studies highlight how the CDP Forest Champions Program and CDP’s forests data are being used to act on deforestation. Transparency is key to progress! Today AdAstra Sustainability is making Orbae's land conversion insights available to all as open data. Find out more below ??
We’re down to less than 5 years to meet the global deadline for ending land conversion. We need to move much, much faster. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that as of today, Orbae’s land conversion insights are now available to everyone as ?open data.? What this means: → Land use change emission factors for 60 datasets and growing → 30 countries and their subnational jurisdictions? → 11 major agricultural commodities and their processed products → All types of land conversion (forest, grassland, peatland) → Built in high resolution with a jurisdictional direct land use change approach → Follows the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and SBTi FLAG → Downloadable in Excel → Free to use for all non-commercial purposes and certain commercial ones, including business operations, strategy and consulting It’s our hope — and our belief — that transparent, accessible data in the hands of the right stakeholders can accelerate the pace of change. A massive thank you to our supporters for making this possible: Louis Dreyfus Company, ofi, South Pole, Global Feed LCA Institute, 3Keel, Proforest, Embrapa, Embrapa Meio Ambiente, Trase - Intelligence for sustainable trade, MassChallenge Switzerland, Innosuisse See the land conversion impacts of agriculture for yourself — create a free account at orbae.eco. Learn more about Global Canopy's Floresta 250 – Cattle project and the importance of disclosure on no-deforestation commitments in Brazil's cattle supply chains ??
?? “I want to see actions. Commitments are important – they show good faith, but we need to see implementation. We need coordinated, concerted action, with clear roles for everyone.” – Isadora Carvalho, Sustainable Finance Engagement Lead at Global Canopy In our recent Floresta 250 - Cattle webinar, Isadora stressed that #deforestation commitments must be supplemented with disclosure on implementation. ?? Floresta 250 – Cattle is a new data offering from Global Canopy that monitors the performance of key players in #Brazil’s cattle supply chains. The findings reveal that even among the companies and financial institutions publishing deforestation commitments, few are following up by publishing evidence of implementation. Isadora also stressed that addressing deforestation is not just an environmental issue; it’s closely linked to #humanrights abuses. The findings show that critical human rights issues related to deforestation and ecosystem conversion are still being ignored by most companies and financial institutions. Hear from Isadora ?? ?? ?? Compliance with the EUDR will not be expensive. ?? The costs of #EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) compliance are negligible, on average 0.10% as percentage of annual revenues for large #companies and SMEs according to Profundo’s new study, commissioned with the support of the Tierra Pura Foundation. ? Interviews with key organisations also confirm that the complexity of compliance is also far less than many companies involved in the ‘deforestation supply chain’ suggest. ? The findings demonstrate that new supply chain laws do not pose any significant cost trade-off with #sustainability objectives.
