Plaintiff of a discrimination lawsuit at Google, which awarded $28 million, successfully fought to exclude Black employees. Should BIPOC efforts go away? : "BIPOC" emerged as a way to center the experiences of Black and Indigenous communities and demonstrate solidarity with other communities of color.?
Marketing @ the Intersection of Culture & Social Impact | 2022 Forbes 50 Most Entrepreneurial CMOs | Black Dollar Index Founder | Empowering consumers to Be Informed. | Do It For The Equity
And this, ladies and gentleman, is why the term BIPOC should be done away with. “The lawsuit was led by Ana Cantu, who identifies as Mexican and racially Indigenous, on behalf of Hispanic, Latinx, Indigenous, Native American, American Indian, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and Alaska Native employees at Google.” “Judge Adams said the settlement came after Cantu’s lawyers agreed this month to exclude Black employees from the proposed class, which Google had sought.” Honestly, I’m not surprised Black people were excluded from this settlement, but to see it play out like this should be a clear reminder that POC issues are not Black issues. BIPOC issues are NOT Black issues. STOP conflating! https://lnkd.in/ehSgaRaV
