Since DoD is no longer celebrating Women’s History Month, us retired folks will do it on their behalf. Jeanne Holm was the first woman to be promoted to Brig Gen in the USAF. In the 1960s and 70s she was a strong advocate for opening more roles to women in the military, including pilot training and combat. She retired as a 2-star and lived long enough to see women fly in combat.

Women are more likely than men to share money when given the chance ??? A new study shows women, on average, give away $1 more than men. How does generosity shape our decisions—in work, the board room, giving, and beyond? Let’s discuss! ?? #Generosity #Equity #Leadership #WomenOnBoards
A new study suggests that women are more inclined than men to share money when given the chance ?? The research from PLOS found that when given €10, women were more likely to give part of it away to an anonymous second person, while men were more inclined to keep the full amount. On average, women gave away €1 more than men. The authors say that these findings should be considered "whenever altruism is a relevant factor affecting decisions", for example in giving to charity, volunteering, blood and organ donation and caregiving, and bigger social context like our approach to politics, the environment and at work. How highly do you value generosity? Comment to let us know?? Read more in The Independent here: https://shorturl.at/WxFTP?

Progress worth celebrating—for the first time ever, women-led films matched male-led films at the box office! ???? But the fight for equity isn’t over—representation for women of color and women over 45 declined while men still dominate behind the scenes. Let’s keep pushing for change! #RepresentationMatters #EquityInFilm
For the first time, women achieved gender parity in big-screen lead roles. ?? In 2024, women-led 42% of the top 100 grossing films—matching male-led films for the first time ever. And in a separate study, female-led/co-led films hit 54%, up from 30% in 2023. Dr. Stacy L. Smith put it best: “We have always known that female-identified leads would make money.†Hits like Wicked, Inside Out 2, Moana 2, and The Substance proved that again. But the work isn’t done. Representation for women of color declined (25%, down from 37%), and women over 45 remain vastly underrepresented. And behind the scenes? 70% of top films had 10+ men in key roles—compared to just 8% for women. The momentum is real, but so is the need for continued change. Against what many would advise, I’m outing my less-than-flattering thoughts about another woman’s success yesterday. I’m doing it because I want you to know you’re not alone. I’m doing it because women are conditioned to view one another as competition. I’m doing it because being Hype Women requires unlearning, intention and action. So, how did I feel when I saw that my friend Nidhi Tewari, LCSW submitted her manuscript to her publisher Penguin Random House? Watch to find out. #HypeWomen
