When our Melbourne team talks about their first experience of a 1 Hotels, it’s interesting how often we talk about how the hotel made us feel. Was it the lighting that created the ambience? Or perhaps the lush native greenery that creates a sense of tranquility? Both are key elements, as are the calming colours and understated, elegant design, but what everyone mentions is the scent. Recently we were staying at the beautiful 1 Hotel Nashville. Nashville is a bit of a wild town (spoiler alert), but when we returned to 1 Hotels, we felt like we were back in our elevated, elegant retreat, although right on the doorstep of all the action. Back to the scent, Kindling is the cornerstone of our ambience. It is a carefully crafted blend of seven all-natural ingredients that harmonises perfectly with the organic, nature-inspired design of our spaces. ?? Out Standing in the Fennel Field: A Root Awakening! ?? We set out to write about our program called Happenings in this post. Happenings are events that happen (you can see where the name came from) at the hotel on a very regular basis. From movement, to mindfulness, craft and cooking, we run interactive sessions for our guests to enjoy that also gently showcase our mission 'to be a platform for change'. They transform our guest stay experience. But sometimes, nature has its own agenda. Yesterday, as the sun emerged with unexpected spring splendour, our chef @JulioMartinez posed an impromptu question: "Want to visit our fennel supplier?" Despite the risk of venturing out without SPF, I couldn't resist this opportunity to connect directly with our local food sources, A.K.A. a morning in the sun. Our journey led us to Mason Brothers, accompanied by the passionate family team from Altomonte Distributors. At 1 Hotels, we believe that truly exceptional food is born from fresh, local, and natural ingredients. The fennel we encountered was a revelation—crisp, sweet, with a perfect aniseed note. It tasted like childhood memories, converting even the fennel-fearing sceptics among us. This experience reinforced why we value our suppliers so deeply. Altomonte's commitment to supporting the Victorian Farmers Federation resonates with our ethos. In these challenging times for agriculture, with unpredictable weather and rising costs, companies like Altomonte play a crucial role in sustaining local farming by supporting the Victorian Farmers Federation. The farmers, Mason Brothers, inspired us with their attention to detail creating the most glorious veg we had ever seen. From germinating to harvesting, they manage the whole process with precision and care that shows in every leaf. Our impromptu field trip embodied the spirit of our Happenings—unexpected, enlightening, and deeply connected to nature and community.
