Here's one of our favorite elements of the new Pittsburgh International Airport: an iconic ceiling featuring lighting fixtures arranged in the shape of constellations. This design, inspired by the Pennsylvania night sky, seamlessly integrates architecture, engineering, and lighting technology. Passengers are greeted by a stunning canopy of stars, which guides them through the airport and represents a tribute to the industrial and scientific heritage of Pittsburgh, a city of innovators such as George Westinghouse and many NASA astronauts. And now… Can you spot your favorite constellation? #WeDesignAirports Gensler + HDR in association with luis vidal + architects #NaTeCo #PittsburghAirport #Architecture #Design #Constellations #Aviation #SkyAbovePIT #luisvidalArchitects

Pittsburgh’s airport is one of a kind! While it's common in Latin America, PIT stands out as a rare airport where people park and come into the airport to pick up their loved ones ?? One exciting feature of the transformed PIT is the 8,000 sq. ft. Meet & Greet hall on the arrivals level! Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the largest outdoor terraces of any U.S. airport, along with screens showing updated flight information, various concessions, and ample seating, View the pictures below to see the renderings and the space currently being constructed ??

When the new Pittsburgh International Airport opens this year, it will mark a major shift to an origin-and-destination airport. Today, nearly 98% of passengers are flying to or from Pittsburgh, highlighting the need for this transformation after nearly two decades of outdated infrastructure. ?? ?? Our current terminal opened in 1992 as a US Airways hub and was designed for connecting flights; the new airport will feature green terraces, improved design and better dining and shopping options. Our colleague Jim Henry, AIA, Executive Vice President & Managing Principal in the U.S., contributes to the Aarqhos Yearbook of Healthcare Architecture with an article titled "The Hospital Design of the Future: A Balance Between Efficiency, Technology, and Human Experience." The Chilean Association of Architecture and Hospital Specialties (AARQHOS) unites healthcare professionals—architects, engineers, doctors, and more—to collaborate on sanitary infrastructures. Its goal is to meet current and future infrastructure needs through human capital and specialized tools. Jim's article dives into how to balance sustainability, technological advancements, and costs while putting people at the heart of hospital design. It explores key ideas from the U.S., South America, and Europe to tackle the global healthcare challenges ahead. ?? https://ow.ly/H3jh50UCmQB #WeDesignHospitals #HospitalDesign #HealthcareInnovation #Sustainability #TechInHealthcare
