Summary: My goal is to educate and manage patients and health care providers in treatment of acute to chronic head and neck pain associated with temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD or TMD), oral myofunctional disorders, headache sequelae, sleep disordered breathing including sleep apnea, daytime dysfunctional breathing and compromised body postures from head to toe. This holistic approach is derived from my education in orthopedic manual physical therapy, craniofacial disorders, oral-myofunctional therapy, postural dysfunction, and diurnal breathing patterns. I collaborate with dentists, orthodontists, primary MDs, ENTs, endocrinologists, speech therapists and others in order to treat the whole patient, reduce stress related dysfunction and prevent, rather that treat disease by dealing with root causes. I treat orthopedic/sports injuries, infant and pediatric patients, pre/post operative care for total joint replacements, maxillofacial and spinal surgeries, assist in dental/airway treatment planning and provide orthotic prescription. I pride myself on performing a comprehensive evaluation with minimal time constraints to thoroughly understand each patient. Evaluation and treatments are provided on site at the referring provider’s office to maximize collaborative team approach and patient goals. I believe hands on treatment specific to each individual drives results in a timely fashion. Beyond traditional physical therapy, I implement the following techniques: fascial manipulation (Stecco method?), postural respiration (Postural Restoration Institute?), craniofacial/cervical and TMD methods as instructed by world renowned Mariano Rocabado through University of St. Augustine, Oxygen Advantage taught by Patrick McKeown (Buteyko Breathing method foundation) and oral myofunctional therapy through the Academy of Oral Myofunctional Therapy (Joy Moeller). I have lectured for Airway Mini-Residency, Whittier College, American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD) and multiple small dental practices. I empower my patients to self treat and create realistic maintenance exercise programs that suits their lifestyle. When patients no longer need me, I did my job!
