    In August 2016, prolonged rainfall in southern parts of the U.S. state of Louisiana resulted in catastrophic flooding that submerged thousands of houses and businesses. Many rivers and waterways, particularly the Amite and Comite rivers, reached record levels, and rainfall exceeded 20 inches (510 mm) in multiple parishes.

    Large numbers of homeowners without flood insurance were affected. The flood has been called the worst US natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. 13 deaths have been reported as a result of the flooding.

    Install 8000 feet of 6-strand single-mode direct burial fiber around the BREC Zoo for the recreation and POS software System. The project provided network and internet connectivity for the following Zoo departments: Hospital, Kids Zoo, Flamingo Café, Front Gate (Gift Shop), Maintenance he following department. The individual location department offices were wired with Cat5 cable to provide connectivity to the user PC and server equipment.

    As a result of new construction in the district our older school campuses were outdated form a technology standpoint. I was able to identify funding and get the necessary approvals to do technology updates at all old Plaquemines Parish Schools. This included Belle Chasse Primary School, Belle Chasse Middle School, Belle Chasse High School, the Plaquemines Parish Learning Center and Boothville-Venice Elementary School. This process included creating RFP’s for each school’s infrastructure…

This process included creating RFP’s for each school’s infrastructure upgrade (fiber and cat5e), coordinating the installation of interactive white boards and projectors for every classroom and computer lab, purchasing new computer, monitors and printers for all classrooms and administrative offices for each school and managing the installation of all hardware and software. This process took 3 years to complete and we were able to standardize our technology equipment throughout the district to create a more stable, efficient and reliable computing environment for our faculty, staff and students.

In 2006, FEMA constructed modular buildings at campuses in Port Sulpher, LA and Phoenix, LA for school. PPSB starting planning the construction of three new schools in 2006. The construction of these three new schools started in 2008. I was involved in all aspects of planning and installing the technology for these three new schools. This included all fiber and copper…

This included all fiber and copper wiring, all network equipment, all video surveillance equipment, all classroom technology and all computer lab technology. I worked with local vendors to supply network switches, interactive white boards, projectors, document cameras, computers, laptops and printers for all three schools – South Plaquemines High School, Buras, LA, South Plaquemines Elementary School, Port Sulpher, LA and Phoenix High School in Braithwaite, LA. My department currently manages and supports all hardware and software at these locations.
