The ztC Endurance?

The ztC Endurance?

As we wrap up the week, I'm thrilled to share some exciting news! Myself and a lucky few from our office were recently invited by Stratus Technologies to the grand launch of their latest addition to their product portfolio. This flagship innovation is designed with one clear goal in mind: to revolutionize fault-tolerant computing.

Introducing the ztC Endurance? – a name that rings with power and resilience! (And just a quick side note for our American friends: it's pronounced “Zee-Tee-See,” but us Saffas, rooted in our colonial background, tend to stick to “Zed-Tee-See”).

The very word “Endurance” sparks thoughts of great explorers like Sir Ernest Shackleton and his legendary vessel, #Endurance, or the remarkable East African marathon runners who conquer physical limitations. Now, let's add a digital chapter to that legacy – the zTC Endurance, a culmination of 40 years of innovation and excellence by Stratus.

This exceptional platform is the result of analyzing over 100 million hours of computing runtime across thousands of customers. Stratus Technologies gained deep insights into what causes compute platforms to fail – and more importantly, how to prevent it proactively.

Picture this: the ztC Endurance? delivers a mind-blowing 7 nines availability! That's (99.99999%) – roughly ±3.2 seconds of downtime in a year. Think about the things we often take for granted, like the seamless functioning of our banking systems, social media, and even basic services like email. On a personal note, my daughter, a T1 diabetic, relies on a cloud-connected app to report her insulin levels to our iPhones. Yet, there were unfortunate periods in 2023 where we faced more than 6 hours without data or notifications. The culprit? “Server upgrades.” It's clear this company wasn't tapping into the power of Stratus equipment. Imagine if they had – parents and T1D sufferers worldwide wouldn't have faced such inconveniences.

Downtime and data loss are not just about "monetary loss"; they also bring about “emotional” and “psychological” challenges. Stratus Technologies , as a company, has triumphed in delivering a fault-tolerant platform that leaves no room for compromise in performance, cost, serviceability, and manageability. What's even more remarkable is how #Stratus has democratized fault tolerance, making it accessible for any organization – and any team – to run mission-critical applications and complex software stacks without downtime or data loss, all without needing to be a server expert.

Here at PCS Global (Pty) Ltd. , we proudly stand as a distributor of Stratus Technologies equipment in the EMEA region. The values #Stratus upholds resonate perfectly with our commitment to delivering #quality, #scalability, and #stability to our clients. When I think about #resilience in the face of hardship and adversity, I can't help but draw parallels to great figures like Ernest Shackleton, Haile Gebrselassie, and the incredible ztC Endurance?.

a very big thank you to Richard Sharod , Pieter van der Merwe , Albertus Weber , Silvia Boblea and the rest of the team at #Stratus SA for graciously hosting us over the last three days.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend ahead!
