Zscaler Positioned as a Leader with the Highest ‘Ability to Execute’ in the Inaugural 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Service Edge
I am delighted to announce that Zscaler(TM) has been recognized as a Leader in the inaugural 2022 Gartner? Magic Quadrant(TM) for Security Service Edge (SSE). Zscaler is positioned as the vendor with the highest ‘Ability to Execute’ among the 11 vendors that were recognized for this report. Gartner assesses vendors’ ability to execute based on a combination of critical factors including products/services, customer experience, market responsiveness, track record, marketing execution, sales execution/pricing, operations, and overall viability.
For several decades, enterprises, large institutions, and government agencies globally have regarded the Gartner Magic Quadrant as the gold standard for identifying and selecting a technology vendor that is ideal for their specific requirements. For 10 years, Zscaler has been positioned as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateways (SWG) and most recently, in the 2020 version of the report, Zscaler was the only Leader out of the 12 vendors included.
As markets mature and evolve, new technology categories emerge. As a result, Gartner introduced SSE, defined as the convergence of multiple integrated security services delivered from a purpose-built cloud platform. SSE can be viewed as a subset of the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework with its architecture primarily centered on three key security services: SWG, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), supported with integrated Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) capabilities. These essential SSE capabilities are the foundational services that create the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange(TM), the world’s largest in-line cloud security platform with more than 200 billion daily transactions, enabling our customers to successfully execute on their secure digital transformation initiatives.
I founded Zscaler on the conviction that traditional approaches to network security would become antiquated and inadequate as users became highly mobile and applications moved off the corporate LAN and into the cloud. These past two years, we have witnessed an accelerated transition to the cloud and new security requirements surface to support our highly distributed workforce. This rapid transformation has completely eroded the concept of the castle-and-moat security architecture which has exposed businesses to escalating, large-scale security breaches. Firewalls and VPNs not only provide a false sense of security, but also take away valuable IT investments from enterprises’ digital transformation initiatives.
The introduction of the SSE category reinforces that the time is right for customers to re-evaluate their security model, and Zscaler is here to assist in that transformation. We believe we deliver on Gartner’s assessment of our strengths in SSE through the continued innovation of our Zero Trust platform that enables secure work-from-anywhere using the internet as the corporate network. Based on the Zero Trust principle of least-privileged access, Zscaler’s holistic security model connects the right users directly to the right applications – never the network – based on business policies that leverage identity, context, and the content of each transaction.
We are excited to continue our focus on driving cloud advancements for the SSE market, but the true measure of our success is the value we deliver to our customers so they can support and protect their mission-critical operations day-in and day-out. I’d like to personally thank each of our customers for putting their trust in Zscaler to help secure and move forward with their digital transformation initiatives.
