Zorin OS is a user-friendly Linux distribution that was designed to make the transition from Windows or MacOS environments to Linux smoothly. This Linux operating system is based on Ubuntu and utilizes the GNOME desktop environment. Zorin offers a familiar windows-like interface with customizable layouts.
The latest release of Zorin OS came out on September 19th, 2024 with release number 17.2. This release has improved the appearance and allows for more customizable features on the Zorin Desktop Experience.
Better security, compatibility, and performance are essential improvement. Zorin OS 17.2 uses the same version of the Linux kernel as Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. As a part of the improved compatibility, Zorin OS comes with updated drives and improved support for a wider rang of hardware.
The advantages of Zorin OS lies in its lightweight built and can run on older hardware. Using a Linux operating system when Windows 10 reaches end of life on October 15, 2025, will save computers from e-waste.
Zorin OS is ideal for those who want a familiar Windows-like experience with the power and security of Linux. Fedora is more suitable for advanced users and developers who want the latest software, while Ubuntu is a great all-rounder, balancing ease of use and performance.
