Zoom Unveils AI-First Innovations at Zoomtopia 2024

At Zoomtopia 2024, Zoom introduced a range of exciting AI-first innovations aimed at transforming how organisations work, communicate, and collaborate. These updates reflect Zoom's ongoing commitment to integrating AI into its platform, helping users boost productivity and simplify workflows.?

AI Companion 2.0?

One of the key announcements was the upcoming AI Companion 2.0, which brings a more seamless experience with persistent side panels for continuous access throughout Zoom Workplace. It combines graphical and conversational interfaces, making it easier to keep information flowing. With enhanced contextual understanding, it offers smart suggestions based on what you’re working on or past interactions, complete with citations to keep you on track. It also synthesises data from across Zoom and connected apps like Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar, helping users quickly get up to speed.?

On top of that, AI Companion 2.0 will soon be able to connect to the web for real-time information and even take actions by recognizing and completing tasks across workloads. And the best part? These advanced features are coming at no extra cost for Zoom Workplace paid users.?

Custom add-on for AI Companion?

Zoom also announced that it will be introducing a new optional add-on that allows customers to create a fully customised AI Companion experience, expanding its data access and functionality. This add-on will connect to third-party apps beyond Microsoft and Google, integrate with additional company data sources, and offer enhanced search capabilities.??

With AI Studio, organisations can customise AI Companion even further, adding custom dictionaries, personalised meeting summaries, and specific knowledge collections for more accurate responses. AI will also be able to take actions across apps like Jira, Zendesk, and Workday. Additional features include custom coaching tools for employee development and AI-generated avatars for video creation with Zoom Clips. This customisable add-on will be available in early 2025, offering businesses a powerful way to streamline workflows and save time.?

Workplace Advancements?

Zoom is also rolling out AI-driven upgrades to Zoom Workplace that will help teams stay organised, collaborate more effectively, and improve in-person interactions.?

Zoom Tasks, an AI-first product, will automatically detect, suggest, and even complete tasks based on conversations happening within the platform. Zoom Phone will see AI improvements too, with real-time call summaries and personalised voicemail greetings based on your calendar.?

Collaboration is set to get even smoother with AI-powered meeting agendas, live summaries, and enhanced Zoom Docs for better project management. Users can also use avatars in Zoom Clips for professional video creation and streamline writing tasks with AI-generated content. For in-person meetings, AI Companion will offer summaries and room recommendations via Workspace Reservation. All these features will be included at no additional cost for paid Zoom Workplace users.?
