I am really excited about the new Zoom F8, but I had to ask "For 999$ can it really compare to a Sound Devices Unit at over 3 times more?"  I recorded samples with a Sennheiser 416 mic and play back was on Adam A3X Monitors. I didn't want it to be as good (because I like feeling superior to those "Zoom Guys") but I can say it is as good as anything I have recorded with my 633. I really like this recorder and expect to see a lot more of them in field.
