Zoom AI Is About To Make Podcasting Easier For Me

One of the biggest challenges we faced back in the day was creating social media post copy and descriptions with timestamps that properly described our podcast episodes.

Identifying clips meant having someone rewatch the entire episode looking for the best parts.?

I try to manage timestamping live but often I get caught up in creating the episode and then forget to mark down what the topic pivots. Today I wanted to share my methodology on how I’ll approach this kind of thing moving forward. One day we’ll have all content on our own website, and having lengthy descriptions on what we covered in the episode will be good for searchability.

It all started when I turned on the Zoom AI summary tool by accident today for the first time and saw what I’d been missing.

Then I read a pretty accurate summary of the podcast episode we finished recording using the Zoom AI Companion tool.?

Here’s how I’m going to use Zoom and ChatGPT for podcasting and why.

Full disclosure. I pay for a Zoom account and get the AI tools included in my package.?

Zoom Recordings give meeting transcripts

You want the full transcript of your podcast.?

I wasn’t aware Zoom generated them, and I’ll have to test the accuracy. But since I already pay for Zoom, I’m not trying to invest in other tools. If the podcast transcript is accurate enough, we can still work with it.?

The podcast transcript will let you see everything that was discussed in the episode. Along with other AI tools, this gives you valuable insight into everything discussed in a 2-3 hour recording.?

What I discovered today is that Zoom can also capture the audio from each mic separately.

So we can get isolated audio by channel and a full breakdown of what was said, with timestamps.?

I hope it’s good when we get to it, but wait, there’s more.

Zoom AI Companion is good for summaries and catch ups

When I finished the podcast, Zoom AI Companion had an entire summary ready to review within 5 minutes.

It summarized everything we said with a pretty eerie level of accuracy. It had highlights, a breakdown of the episode and it was surprisingly objective, given how our memories will work discussing the content later on. This kind of technology is going to settle a lot of he said-she said nonsense that creates bickering on teams all over.?

What’s cool about the feature is if someone comes in late for an episode, they can ask the AI Companion for a summary of what’s been said on a topic in real time within the chat tool.??

This will avoid having to break up the flow of an episode to give recaps.?

The person can catch up and then contribute further.

I hope it’s good in real life, but wait, there’s even more.?

Taking all the text created by Zoom, we can ChatGPT our way into everything we need

With the summary, transcripts and timestamps we can teach ChatGPT what was said on every podcast episode.

From there we can train the GPT to summarize that information into all kinds of stuff like:

  • Email Newsletter content
  • Social media post content by platform
  • Website copy
  • Clip identification for the spiciest debate
  • Real insight on how we can reduce filler moments

A lot of this is theoretical for me, but given my experiences with ChatGPT, I should be able to automate a lot of this into 30 minutes worth of effort.?

For real, everything I listed there is hours worth of work, and in a few clicks, for 50$ a month, we unlock all this power.

The future is going to be automated and it’s going to be good for the end result of my projects.

Live Long and Prosper Everyone
