Zomato board approves name change to Eternal, app to retain original name
The company’s stock ticker will be updated from ‘Zomato’ to ‘Eternal,’ and its corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com
Zomato Ltd has officially changed the company name to Eternal Ltd, the food tech firm said in a regulatory filing after market hours on Thursday.
“We would like to inform that the directors of the company vide resolution dated February 6, 2025, have approved the change in the name of the company from ‘Zomato Ltd’ to ‘Eternal Ltd’,” the filing said.
Group chief executive officer and co-founder Deepinder Goyal said that the internal use of the name ‘Eternal’ started after the company acquired Blinkit, to differentiate between the corporate entity and the Zomato app.
“We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there,” Goyal said in a letter filed with the exchanges.
While the company has been renamed to Eternal, the Zomato app will retain its name. The company’s stock ticker will also be updated from ‘Zomato’ to ‘Eternal,’ Goyal said.

“Our Board has approved this change today and I request our shareholders to also support this change. If and when it is approved, our corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com,” Goyal said in the letter.
Eternal Ltd will now comprise four primary business units: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
“Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox,” Goyal said. “This isn’t just a name change; it is a mission statement. A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure—not because we are here, but because we need to get there.”
On Thursday, Zomato shares were down about 1% from the the previous day’s closing to Rs229.05 on BSE Ltd.
