Zip It: The Power of Saying Less
The less you say, the more powerful your words come across.
?
The world is filled with unnecessary drama and arguments. It is because our talkative world today encourages people to stand up and speak out about what they want.
We must remember that everyone prefers to be heard rather than being a listener. Because of that, silence is a great tool to earn respect and get your point across.
Do you want to build trust in your relationship? Learn to listen. Being a good listener will demonstrate that you value how other people think. They will eventually learn to value your opinions as well. It is universal human nature that good listeners are welcomed and those who blab are avoided. Of course! We all want to feel valued and involved.

Taking a short silent break in your conversation will help you to generate better ideas. If you don’t know what to say, do not rush and say something stupid that you will regret. Instead, pause for a moment to buy some time to calm down your nerves and organize your thoughts.
Silence can prevent you from being manipulated and losing control. If you put too many words into a sentence then it will undermine the value of you by making you seem insecure. Learn to embrace silence and choose words judiciously. Don’t let in anyone inside your head by telling them all your thoughts and feelings. Stay calm and organized and let other people expose what they know and how they feel. As Sun Tzu said, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.

Words are like money. Don’t waste them. Let other people do the talking about themselves and speak only when your words serve purpose.
