ZINDA @ Start-ups!

ZINDA @ Start-ups!

Yesterday, as a Founder/ Promoter/ Investor/ Managing Director, I invited all those fresh GRADUATES @ IIMs who were either DENIED OFFERS or had JOINING DATES POSTPONED -- to apply @ Corporate Gurukul.

Their compensation will remain the same as the offer they accepted, they will have increased responsibilities and their date of joining will be 1st July, 2016. We have 4 positions open!

We have already honoured our recruitment and joining commitment at IIM, Indore.

What made me take this SMALL yet BOLD STEP as a START-UP?

I have been following the news on few start-ups who didn't honour recruitment, salary or joining commitments in IITs and IIMs. They are being banned on campus. My thoughts:

  1.  Does every IIT/IIM graduate honour the commitment to join the company they have accepted the offer from on campus? Should we blacklist those graduates from industry? Thats regressive thinking! Its a free world! Let demand and supply of talent and business take its natural course. Why should institutions dictate policies, sign bonds, etc? As a nation, we need to move beyond the mindset of LICENSE RAJ.
  2. The start-up community at large should not be blamed for the ongoing challenges nor the founders or investors who promoted few of these start-ups/companies. Every company goes through these cycles and there is no reason to blacklist such companies on campus. No company will take this huge step and risk its reputation in the market without a very valid reason.
  3. I have always encouraged students to either join start-ups or start-up on their own. Risk starts with your JOB OFFER. When you are young, you can and should take the risk! Its fun! Its essential for the transformation of India and its impact till date has been phenomenal. Any measure that discourages this culture due to a temporary setback in the industry should be banned including at IITs and IIMs.
  4. I strongly believe start-ups as a community should come together and help each other when the credibility of our community gets hit.

I am making my humble contribution to keep the faith in the start-up culture ALIVE! How about you?

This is the Irony::IIT's and IIM's can blacklist a company, but a company can't black list a candidate if he/she dishonors their offer at the last moment!!! I really appreciate your thoughts Rajesh, but in my Opinion, black listing a company from IIT's and IIM's would definitely help relatively less known Colleges which can't attract companies at their door step!! :P
