Hindustan Zinc Announces 14% Decrease in GHG Emission Intensity in Just 4 Years

As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, Hindustan Zinc has achieved a significant milestone by recording a 14% decrease in GHG (greenhouse gas) emission intensity compared to the base year 2020, while increasing production each year.

Recognized as the world’s most sustainable company in the metals and mining sector, as per S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2023.

Hindustan Zinc has signed a 450-MW renewable power delivery agreement (PDA) poised to mitigate around 2.7 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Deployed India’s first battery electric vehicles in underground mines and initiated 180 LNG and EV trucks for logistics as a step towards reducing Scope-3 emissions by 25% by 2030.

Hindustan Zinc has set a target of converting all diesel-run 900-odd mining vehicles into battery operated ones and has earmarked an investment of over USD 1 billion for the same.

Sewage Treatment Plant located in Udaipur - Zinc City helps in reducing sewage into the lakes as well as reducing freshwater consumption at the plant.

HZL’s dedication to environmental stewardship has garnered global recognition, with CDP awarding it the Leadership Band (A-) for Climate Change and Water Security Excellence.

Hindustan Zinc's Worldwide Reach: Forging Global Connections in Metals

Hindustan Zinc has carved out a robust global presence, exporting to 43 countries with an impressive market of 300 KTPA, encompassing both zinc and lead. Dominating the Middle East and Southeast Asia, HZL routes the bulk of its exports to these vibrant regions. In an exciting development for 2024, HZL has secured all major contracts, proudly adding the largest galvanizer in the Middle East to its distinguished portfolio.

Highest-Ever Monthly Value Added Product Production at Pantnagar Metal Plant

In May '24, Pantnagar Metal Plant achieved a record VAP production of 6,115 MT in a month, the highest since the plant's inception. Through strategic optimization and debottlenecking efforts, including a SMED project for mold changeovers, cooling cycle revamp in April '24, and streamlined batch preparation, help cut batch cycle time by 10 minutes and boosted production by 20%.

Sewage-Treated Water Transferred Through Train

Chanderiya Lead-Zinc Smelter has begun transporting Sewage treated water from Sewage Treatment Plant Debari to CLZS via railway, thanks to loading and unloading arrangements made at origin and destination. The water is utilized in the Captive Power Plant, significantly reducing fresh water consumption during water crisis.

The final whistle has blown, marking the conclusion of an exhilarating season in the Chanderiya Family Football League. The Inter-Smelter matches brought together the finest talents from Dariba, Debari, and Chanderiya for an epic showdown. Chanderiya & Dariba teams battled fiercely at the grand finale, showcasing their skills, determination, and unwavering sportsmanship. Ultimately, Dariba Smelting Complex Dariba team’s timed runs and strategic plays secured them the cup, with a final score of 2-1 against Chanderiya Lead-Zinc Smelter's team.
