  • According to a reports from Moneycontrol & PTI, Jamyang later spoke with Pinki Haryan's parents and persuaded them to let her go to school. In the beginning, her father, Kashmiri Lal, resisted for hours but finally accepted Jamyang’s proposition.
  • Once her father agreed to send her to school, she got admission to Dayanand Public School in Dharamshala.
  • At first, she was a little homesick, missed her parents and home but later continued to concentrate on her academic studies to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty. And guess what? Her commitment and sheer dedication finally led her to win with flying colours when she passed her senior secondary exam with good marks and cleared NEET, according to the words of Ajay Srivastava, president of the NGO Umang Foundation, associated with monk Jamyang for the past 19 years.
  • However, her dire financial situation kept her away from pursuing her academic dreams in India. But she did not give up. Sometime later, she was given admission to a prominent medical school in China in 2018 with help from the Tong-Len Charitable Trust in the United Kingdom.
