Zero Trust File Sharing

Zero Trust File Sharing

The rapid adoption of public cloud platforms and the move to more hybrid working models has led to an erosion of the concept of the network edge. Gone are the days when IT security professionals could define the border of their corporate networks and deploy perimeter security solutions like firewalls and intrusion detection systems. This led to the rise of the Zero Trust framework which has evolved to reflect the reality that organisations now face.

Zero trust operates on a system of least privilege and offers a more resilient, flexible approach that enforces identity authentication, regardless of where or how an access request originates. Adopting zero trust makes delivering stronger security to critical digital assets much easier in the ever-changing threat landscape we now face.

FileCloud has announced the addition of?Zero Trust File Sharing?, which provides another layer of zero-trust hyper-security to their existing robust content collaboration platform. It enables sharing of files within an organisation and with external partners to be incorporated into a zero-trust cybersecurity strategy.

Webinar: Zero Trust File Sharing with FileCloud

FileCloud and Renaissance will hold?Zero Trust File Sharing with FileCloud, a one-hour webinar?on Thursday, the?30th of March?at 2 pm[MW1]?.

During the webinar, Marek Frueauff, a Solutions Architect at FileCloud, will explain how Zero Trust File Sharing works in FileCloud and how users can create and manage their own Zero Trust files and folders within the hyper-secure platform.

Michael Conway of Renaissance will introduce the event. Michael will then pass over to Andy O'Gorman (FileCloud's EMEA Channel Partner Manager) who, with Marek, will discuss and demonstrate how FileCloud’s Zero Trust File SharingSM works in real time.

The agenda is:

14:00 Business Introduction, Michael Conway, Renaissance

14:05 Zero Trust File Sharing with FileCloud, Andy O'Gorman and Marek Frueauff, FileCloud

14:50 Q&A

FileCloud’s Zero Trust File SharingSM

FileCloud has added Zero Trust File SharingSM to their existing FileCloud solution. So if you are already using FileCloud and getting the collaboration benefits of their hyper-secure content platform, after upgrading to?release 22.1, you will have access to this new feature.

Users with access to the user portal will see a new option that enables the creation of secure ZIP file archives. With read access rights, people can preview and download files stored within these secure ZIP files. If they have write access, they can also add and delete files from within the ZIP files. The zero trust aspect of this file sharing is enabled and delivered by the ability to password-protect the ZIP files. Once this is done, only people with the password can access the files. They are fully encrypted, and the decryption key is unknown to FileCloud. So even if there is a data breach, your ZIP files will remain protected.

You can read more about how FileCloud’s Zero Trust File SharingSM works (along with screenshots) in FileCloud’s 22.1 release notes.

FileCloud's View of this New Feature

As part of FileCloud’s Zero Trust release, the leadership team had this to say about how it fits into the broader secure collaboration platform.

Madhan Kanagavel, Founder and President of FileCloud, said of the new Zero Trust File SharingSM feature:

“With FileCloud’s Zero Trust File Sharing, an enterprise can implement secure file sharing throughout their network as part of a larger Zero Trust strategy. Zero Trust File Sharing will also support compliance with federal and global information security regulations as well as organization-wide cybersecurity policies that mandate limited access to sensitive data.”

Ray Downes, FileCloud’s CEO said:

“FileCloud already works with governments around the world to provide hyper-secure content collaboration, file sharing, and workflow automation. Many of the building blocks for a Zero Trust environment exist within FileCloud, including role-based access, audit logs, encryption, and granular permissions. Developing a Zero Trust File Sharing solution further augments the platform’s capabilities when it comes to securing data, both within and beyond an organisation’s network perimeter.”
