At their core, Zero Trust and Cognitive Security are about safeguarding systems and information in an environment of constant threats.
Zero Trust operates on the principle of "never trust, always verify," ensuring that access to resources is monitored and tightly controlled. Its key tenets include:

·????? Micro-segmentation to limit lateral movement,
·????? Continuous Monitoring to detect anomalies, and
·????? Robust Data Protection across all states.
Meanwhile, Cognitive Security employs AI and machine learning to emulate human reasoning in identifying threats, analyzing patterns, and automating responses. This allows systems to detect behavioral anomalies, leverage global threat intelligence, adapt through learning, and proactively mitigate risks.
These frameworks provide a robust and dynamic defense against modern cybersecurity challenges. But what happens when we apply Zero-Trust principles to human-to-human interactions?
The Psycho-Social Dimension: Zero Trust in Human Interaction
The advent of deepfakes and AI-generated content poses a significant challenge to cognitive security in human interactions. As technology blurs the lines between real and fake, society risks losing its foundational trust in authenticity.

The way forward must include all humans, not just those at large corporations who have the budget to implement technologies, trainings and defense AI Agents. This is a complex problem, and we will need to co-create complex solutions to insure erosion of trust can be mitigated before it wreaks havoc on humanity. I'd be keen to hear what my friend Peter Mandeno (PhD), an expert in connectivity, has to say on the topic.
