Zenith A783 Defy El Primero (all blue large chronograph sub counters)

Zenith made these for a very limited run, there were A781, A782, and this one a A783 that has since 2009 been in my collection. It's Time Has Come ! For years I watched the collecting world pay tributes to their silly Rolex, and these collector's games are numerous. The El Primero in my opinion, is a vast bastion of collectability and in these trying times, it has finally found it's voice. It is not an easy movement to do, yet after you have done a few services - like I have, making sense of how the parts fit and cross fit, the image of the watches productions in Le Locle #zenithwatches and #zenithmanufacture becomes enlightening. With it, the era of the quartz crisis, and what this company did to survive. I actually found there was a Zenith TV and Radio company in my town, and that when they launched their TV products, they were giving away Zenith El Primero DEFY '73 watches! Folks, this is a true story, and there are more than one collector here in Victoria B.C. that has a different colored DEFY '73

Very interesting article. As I have many watches in my collection and amongst them a similar to the one you’re describing here, is good to know the history of this watch. I assume you are a watchmaker which is very rare in our days.

Here is a picture of the Zenith El Primero DEFY A781 (Red fume dial) and my A783 Blue dial DEFY '73 - out of all three, the A783 is the only one with a tachymeter scale. The Red dial A781 is actually owned by a dear friend, a colleague, and a serving member of Victoria B.C. Transit. He was given this Red dial A781 when he got his Zenith TV and cable contract way back in 1975. More on this story to follow ! ??
