ZenGroup's Global Cross-Border EC Expansion: Tapping into Japan's Potential


What is Cross-Border EC??

Cross-border e-commerce (EC) involves the buying and selling of products or services between individuals or businesses in different countries through online platforms. Many of the challenges faced by companies and customers in cross-border e-commerce include issues related to language support, limited payment methods, and delivery logistics. To tackle these challenges, we offer our services in 19 languages and support approximately 100 types of payments, including credit cards, PayPal, and bank transfers. Additionally, we provide solutions for overseas deliveries and customer inquiries. Japanese sellers who use our services can easily manage international shipping, customer support, address credit card fraud, customs duties, and pay just 10% of the sales amount to the company.

Background and Expansion

Japan's Ecommerce (EC) sales currently account for only about 5% of the total in the global cross-border EC market, which is significantly lower than China's 21% and the United States' 15% market share. However, the global cross-border EC market is expected to experience significant growth, increasing from US$785 billion (approximately 115 trillion yen) in 2021 to an estimated US$7.938 trillion by 2030.

Our CEO, Surovyi Viacheslav, co-founded ZenGroup in 2014 with the mission of capturing 20% of the world's cross-border EC sales for Japan. To achieve this ambitious goal, we have launched a range of services with our dedicated team. Beginning with our proxy purchasing service, ZenMarket, we have expanded into other areas such as ZenPop (our subscription box service), ZenPlus (our EC mall), and ZenPromo (our overseas promotion service). In our pursuit of our mission, we continue to evolve and strengthen our teams and services.



In November 2023, we introduced ZenLink, a service designed to facilitate Japanese EC websites in selling products to overseas customers. ZenLink streamlines the process for overseas consumers to discover and purchase products from Japanese e-commerce platforms and simplifies interactions for Japanese businesses with overseas customers, all without incurring initial or monthly fees. With the growing demand for products related to Japanese culture, including anime and manga, we aim to have 1,000 companies adopt ZenLink within the next year.
