Scratch that, we all know that’s not true. This is why, today, we’re diving into the world of calmness, tranquillity, and all things serene at Extra Hour Spa. Allow us to make you wish for an extra hour but, this time, for the right reasons.

Zen & Now: The Ultimate Makeover

In its early years, despite having limited treatment rooms, Extra Hour Spa still made its name known and spoken of. To the extent that our reputation for exceptional service and relaxation grew faster than our space could accommodate. Recognizing the need to keep up with the growing demand, we’ve recently embraced a stunning transformation. Think of our spa as having undergone its own revitalizing treatment: emerging refreshed and ready to impress. It was not easy; we faced missed deadlines, revenue hiccups for certain services, and unexpected issues that required rework and repairs.

Now, after navigating through the dusty construction days, we’re excited to unveil our revamped space.? We’ve converted previously unused areas, including an office and a storage room, into new treatment rooms and two hammams. We’ve got more treatment rooms now, but don’t get too comfortable— our slots fill up faster than you can say “spa day!"

Hammam

Our newly added hammams offer an indulgent escape with their steam treatments that cleanse and exfoliate. Traditionally found in Turkey and Morocco, hammams have now become globally renowned. People from all over the world are trained and excel in these rituals. At Extra Hour Spa, we’ve modernized this experience by adding masks and other products. Unlike traditional group settings, our hammams are private and designed for one person only, allowing for a more personalized and intimate experience (without an audience). To elevate guests' journeys, we exclusively use high-quality French products, L’Occitane, for the best skincare and relaxation.

New Signature Treatments

Guests can now explore our latest additions to the treatment menu, designed to cater to diverse needs and preferences. From bespoke therapies to innovative wellness solutions, our new offerings are tailored to provide you with the ultimate spa experience.

This a curated treatment that combines lava shell, bamboo massage, stretches and Swedish techniques to focus on tense areas of the body. This comprehensive treatment is designed to provide the ultimate relaxation experience, addressing various needs. And it’s like having your own personal relaxation team working overtime to make you feel fabulous.

• Mom-to-be

The Mom-to-Be Massage is a specialized treatment designed to provide relief to expectant mothers. This specialized, gentle, massage focuses on alleviating the common discomforts of pregnancy, such as back pain and swelling, while promoting relaxation and well-being for both mother and baby.

• Self-treatment

In the spirit of the DIY era, we’ve introduced a self-treatment option at Extra Hour Spa. Guests can now take control of their relaxation experience with our easy-to-follow self-treatment cards. Each card provides simple, step-by-step instructions, allowing them to perform their treatments with confidence.

What’s Trending

We’re always at the forefront of the latest trends in wellness and beauty. One of our newest and most exciting additions is the skin analysis machine, which significantly enhances our facial treatments. This cutting-edge technology allows us to provide highly customized treatments tailored to each client's unique skin needs.

The skin analysis machine offers more than just a facial—it’s an educational one-on-one experience. Clients learn about their skin types, conditions, and the best ways to care for their skin. This knowledge empowers them to make informed decisions about their skincare routines. Following the analysis, clients receive personalized product recommendations, ensuring that their at-home care is as effective as their in-spa treatments.

Challenge Accepted: Therapists Edition

While our diverse team brings a rich array of skills and cultural perspectives to Extra Hour Spa, it also introduces unique challenges. For example, language barriers may arise, with some guests finding it tricky to communicate with therapists who aren’t fluent in every dialect. Unfortunately, "Habibi" and "Khalas" don’t quite cover the nuances of a full spa experience.

Additionally, many of our guests are accustomed to receiving treatments exclusively from Thai therapists. Here, our team comprises professionals from Bhutan, South Africa, Thailand, India, and Indonesia. This diversity can be both a surprise and an adjustment for those who are used to a more homogeneous spa experience.

Cultural differences also present challenges. Guests from Western countries may not be familiar with having treatments separately as a couple, which is a practice we observe to ensure privacy and to respect the UAE's norms. Locals, on the other hand, may find it unusual to use unisex saunas or to be nude in a hammam setting.

These, however. are opportunities for us to educate our guests and make their experiences as comfortable and enriching as possible. Our therapists are trained to handle these cultural nuances with sensitivity and professionalism, ensuring everyone feels welcome and understood.
