Is Zelenskiy really relevant?

February 2022, Kiyv, Ukraine.

Ukraine is under attack and President Zelenski is the prime target.

Everybody with an ounce of common sense and/or military experience understands that Kiyv will fall and russia will put a puppet government in charge.

They need to smuggle Zelenski out. He has multiple offers from his foreign peers, and his own security detail strongly advises him but he refuses every single one of them.

Finally, his cabinet came to him and asked him to at the very least consider the possibility of being moved to safety.

At this point, Zelenski loses it. He says if anybody would mention it one more time, they would be fired onthe spot. He is staying and that is that.

Imagine that conversation.

He was prepared to die for his country and he was role-modeling courage and bravery for his team.

They all stayed with him. Every single one of those people were prepared to die with their leader, for their motherland.

They called their families, recorded videos for posterity for their kids, and said their goodbyes.

Shit got very real and they were ready.

And then something amazing started happening. Kiyv didn’t fall. Zelenski was safe.

Every day he would come outside his office with a live video to reassure his country that he was staying, he was fighting.

This amazingly courageous five-foot-nothing guy, who knew his why, his purpose, his ikigai stood his ground.

The passion he had for his country caught on and spread like wildfire. Ukrainian?government stopped fighting and united, news channels created a 24/7 news marathon with one purpose - to tell the truth, and thousands of Ukrainians across the whole country were coming out with creating ways of fighting the enemy.

There was that granny who hit a drone with a jar of pickles, that farmer who towed away a tank with his tractor, and a hospitable housewife who fed russian soldiers some delicious Ukrainian pirogi with the secret ingredient - poison.

Everybody was doing their bit.

But I wonder, if it wasn’t for Zelenski, would we be where we are today? If it wasn’t for his courage and outright pigheadedness, would Ukraine still be standing?

I have read a lot about him, watched interviews with his wife, and binged the re-runs of his old comedy sketches (he is very good!).

And here is what I’ve discovered - if you were to ask him about those first few days he would say something along the lines of - I was just doing my job, I had to try.?

His love for Ukraine and his vision for victory were so much bigger than his fear of death.

And it paid off. Not just for him but for the whole country.

One man’s vision and his relentless drive.

He begged, borrowed, and stole. He fought and negotiated. He went above governments' heads and straight to their people to put pressure to help Ukraine.

He did everything he could do. He never stopped. He never gave up.

And finally, the scales tipped firmly in Ukraine’s favour and we are gaining momentum.?

I take a lot of inspo from Zelenski in my life and business.?

I have moments when I want to give up, throw in a towel, and say I’ve had enough and it’s not working.?

But here is the thing - if I give up, nobody is coming to save me.

And if Zelenski didn’t give up with death threats flying at him left right and centre, then sure as hell I can work my way through my adorable doubts and keep going.

I think he’s inspirational. His strength and courage to protect his country is admirable and he leads from the front. You can’t help but be inspired by him. слава Укра?н? !
