Goodbye SfB, Hello Microsoft Teams!
#MSTeams steals the show at Ignite in Orlando, I saw it firsthand! 28 page Microsoft Press release re:#msignite2018 does not mention Skype for Business once... and there was only 1 SfB session at one of the largest Microsoft events of the year. Here at NuWave Communications I/We have lived and breathed Teams every day for almost the last year and I have no doubt that Teams is the future and the future is very, very bright! Teams is the fastest growing Microsoft Business Application of all time for a reason!
Starting Today Oct. 1st, new Office 365 customers with 500 seats or less will be onboarded to Microsoft Teams and will NOT have access to Skype for Business
- Tenants that are already using Skype for Business online will be able to continue doing so (including provisioning new users) until they complete their transition to Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft has begun offering automatic upgrades from Skype for Business Online to Teams for Microsoft direct customers. Starting November 1st, we will begin offering partner associated customers automatic upgrades from Skype for Business Online to Teams. Tenant Administrators will be given advance notification via email and through the Office 365 Message Center.

I agree there will be on-prem 2015 SfB folks who want it but it's still only a stepping stone to Teams. In the same way that a marriage Separation is usually just a stepping stone to Divorce... enough said.
