New statistics reveal record rate of EV charge point installation in 2023

We've published new year-end figures for EV charge point installations in 2023.

Record growth in the number of ultra-rapid chargers and high-power charging hubs opening across the country to support EV drivers on longer journeys is the defining characteristic of the year.

But other pieces of the puzzle – from?encouraging growth in low-powered, on-street chargers?through to the regional distribution of high-powered devices – can also be seen in the data.

What's more, the figures show year-on-year growth of 45% in the total number of net new public chargers installed in the UK during 2023. The figure is up from the 31% growth seen in the previous 12-month period. ?

New survey finds motorway services topple supermarkets as most popular charging location

Annual EV Driver Survey Key Findings

We've released the results of the latest Zapmap survey in our?Annual Charging Insights Report for 2023.

The results show?that both motorway services and EV charging hubs have displaced supermarket car parks as the most popular charging locations in the UK, with 55% of respondents indicating?they regularly stop at motorway services to charge.

Conducted in October, the survey saw?record responses from around 4,300 drivers of pure-electric cars. Now in its sixth year, it?is the most established and comprehensive poll of EV drivers in the UK.
