The Zapmap business newsletter
Welcome to your first ever edition of the Zapmap business newsletter.
Each month we will shine a light on the latest statistics, insights and key updates from the EV charging industry and beyond.
This time, we introduce? The Charge, a discursive dive into all things EV charging. It's a short video that aims to help you understand what's going on behind the scenes of the UK's shift to electric mobility.
New Zapmap data demystifies charge point utilisation and highlights why it matters
In a UK first, we've worked with the?Green Finance Institute?to produce a pioneering report that offers a deep dive into the utilisation of this?country’s charging infrastructure.
The new report shows how the utilisation of EV charge points across the UK has changed over time?– and?aims to help investors and local authorities consider how to ensure the right charging devices are in the right place.
With no current?industry-standard definition or calculation for the utilisation of UK?charging infrastructure, the report sees the Green Finance Institute and Zapmap introduce two effective ways to measure, understand and act upon utilisation rates.
Introducing?The Charge?–?from Zapmap?Insights
Welcome to the first ever edition of?The Charge, a discursive dive into all things EV charging.
Hot off the press today,?this short video sees our Co-founder?Melanie Shufflebotham and Head of Insights?Jade Edwards?discussing the trends in the latest charging infrastructure data for the first half of 2023.
They also explore our new utilisation analysis, and highlight other notable charging innovations that have caught our eye this month.
New charging statistics show rate of charge point installation has increased by over 80%
We've published new mid-year figures for charge point installations in 2023.
With more than 44,000 public charging?devices now installed across?the UK, we can reveal?overall growth of 36%?since June 2022.
Not only this, but the rate of installation has also?increased – from an average of 890?chargers each month in the first half of 2022?to an average of more than 1,600?each month in the first half of?2023. This is?an increase of over 80%.
If?this rate of growth continues,?there will be?more than 50,000 charge points?in the UK by the end of the year.
