The Zambia Bureau of Standards has been granted accreditation for its certification services by the Southern African Development Accreditation Services (SADCAS).

A certificate handover ceremony was held yesterday at the Sarovar Hotel where the SADCAS Executive Director Dr. Eve Gadzikwa officially handed over the certificates to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry Mr John Mulongoti who was representing Minister of Commerce Hon. Chipoka Mulenga.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Permanent Secretary, Commerce Trade and Industry Minister Hon Chipoka Mulenga said the ZABS Accredited Certification will reduce the uncertainties in the decisions that affect both domestic and foreign trade as well as those decisions that affect the legislative objectives with regard to public health, safety, and the environment.

He said Zambia can now be rest assured of a world-class Certification Body that will cater to both the needs of all enterprises, ranging from micro to large enterprises. He urged Industry to be ambassadors of the ZABS certification services.

ZABS Acting Executive Director Mr Nathan Sing'ambwa said the accreditation is worth celebrating because the status attained strengthens the credibility and integrity of the certification services while demonstrating the Bureaus' commitment to delivering quality, reliable and impartial certification services that are internationally recognized.
