Camp Shoresh in Adamstown, MD is a Jewish day camp environment about positive Judaism for campers aged three through sixteen, from across Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and D.C.. The camp retained ZA+D for Design Development, Construction Drawings, and Construction Administration to oversee construction of the bath house and overnight cabins.

The cabins needed to function without active mechanical design. ZA+D used passive strategies, such as orienting the cabins and bath house to take advantage of prevailing breezes for cooling.

Clerestory openings were provided to allow breezes to flow through the space.

The camp was welcoming to different levels of faith, but special attention was needed for orthodox members for the separation of boys and girls.

The project consists of a two level multi-purpose community building incorporating gathering spaces, service/kitchen, toilet rooms, and storage rooms on a sloping site providing access to both levels. Approximate square footage; first floor 6,876, ground floor 6,876. Design will be a continuation of the schematic plans prepared by us.

Final concept was cabins in pairs to create outdoor space between to support interactions among campers
