ZAACT.... Some Lessons Learned
Here I sit with more than 10 years under my belt with Intermountain Technology Group (dba ZAACT). I have been through the highs and lows of starting and running a company. Here are some of the lessons I have learned!
· I hire the best. Find people that have Strengths in your weaknesses. I am not the best at most things, so I must hire people better than me in all aspects of my company.
· Enable! I have tried hard to fully enable my staff to do their jobs and provide the needed tools. Sometimes I still get in their way. I know its hard to do a job with someone always stepping in. I trust my employees to manage their work.
· Align work and tasks with desired goals. If you have a goal but are focusing on different tasks, it is much harder to achieve that goal.
· Build up those that report to you. My focus is on building my leadership team, helping them succeed. I expect my teams to build each other up, as well.
· Don’t Stew! Its in my nature to spend a weekend thinking about all that I should have done, or should still do, or that is wrong. If you have the best people, they will help you figure things out. It will all be ok.
· Do not get burned out. Make sure all employees have a sense of expectations on workload. I have seen too many employees get burned out. Do not let them, even if they are willing. Provide a work/life balance.
