The A to Z of Awards: A is for... And That Means

The A to Z of Awards: A is for... And That Means

It is very, very easy to make a statement about your business whilst writing your award entry and forget to back it up.?Without evidence a judge may very well think, “Well that’s all well and good but anyone could say that.?Where’s the evidence??How are you backing up that claim?”

That’s why we have ‘AND THAT MEANS….’ written up large and placed at each of our work stations!

Let’s share a fictional example.

Say a company is entering a customer service award/category and says something like, “Our company offers the very best customer service in our industry”.?We would immediately say, “AND THAT MEANS…”

OK, draft 2 - “Our company offers the very best customer service in our industry meaning that our customers can rest assured that their product/service will arrive with them on time and at the price agreed”.

Better – much better, but as devil’s advocate we’d also ask, “How do you know you offer the very best customer service in your industry?”

What about this then??Draft 3 - “Our company offers the very best customer service in our industry clearly demonstrated by our 250 5* reviews gathered over the last 6 months (our nearest competitor has just 75 reviews averaging at 4* over the same time period).?Our wholehearted commitment to customer service means that our customers can rest assured that their product/service will arrive with them on time and at the price agreed”.

Whilst a fictional example can you see how draft 3 is soooo much stronger than the original?

It’s a handy phrase… AND THAT MEANS…

Try it and let us know what you think. x
