This week, we’re in the arena with one of our favorite guests: meditator, writer, and speaker, Yung Pueblo (Diego Perez). On the heels of releasing his second book, Clarity & and Connection, Yung Pueblo joined us to talk about the process of self-discovery, healing unhelpful patterns, the value of powerful relationships as we grow, and what it looks like to live in a world that leans into inner development.
Yung Pueblo is a two-time author whose work is a powerful resource for those invested in personal transformation, building self-awareness, and deepening their connection with others. It serves as a reminder to readers that healing, transformation, and freedom are possible.
From Within the Arena...
On Awareness: “If you can increase your self-love and if you can increase your self-awareness, that’s going to seriously decrease your likelihood of causing other people intentional or unintentional forms of harm.”
On Nourishing Yourself & Boundaries: “I've been able to set up [those] boundaries that protect my practices that help me become a better human being. I can then turn around and have more compassion for other people in my life...you’ve got to have your boundaries for the things that are going to nourish you.”
On the Subconscious Mind: Diego shared the conscious part of the mind is very thin, and the subconscious is massive. It’s where everything accumulates. And every time you react to something, you’re creating an imprint in your mind that’s predisposing you to getting caught in similar cycles when a familiar experience arises in the future. If you reacted in a specific way in the past, you’re more likely to not only see the present through the past, but to repeat the past, over and over again. Inspiringly, the same way we accumulate beliefs, we can also let them go.
On the Global Impact of Personal Development: “When people go inward, they come out so much more loving, so much more compassionate, so much more kind. And they also come out with this really incredible creativity. And I think it’s the sort of energy we can use to...look at old problems with new solutions...that power will help us build real, structural compassion in the world.”
