"You've unlocked a new tone: apologetic"

Words are Power.

I am a wordsmith -?taglines, About Sections, Newsletters, content,?blogging…

AND, I can't spell to save my soul. I have several types of dyslexia.

Grammarly is my copilot. I'm all content creation - and Grammarly is my spelling and grammar patrol. My babysitter.?

Back in November I had a pretty bad week. AI is great and all. But, when it comes to confirming how bad a week you really had - it's a little creepy.

I received an email with this subject line -?

‘You've unlocked a new tone: apologetic.”

I must have sent a large number of emails that had an apologetic tone.

As creepy as all of that is, it's also interesting feedback. My top two tones are confident and informative. And, I suppose that's fitting.

One of the other things I find fascinating is vocabulary. I suppose I'm a bit of a geek about vocabulary because I am a writer.

Did you know Shakespeare had a vocabulary of well over 20,000 words?

Did you know he contributed 1700 words to the English language?

In comparison, by analyzing Milton's plays his vocabulary was 8,000 words. The entire King James version of the Old Testament says everything it needs to say with precisely 5,624 words.

Words are powerful.

In my conversations this week, it seems cliche to say we are all going through large transitions. Personal. Business. Geographical. Emotional. Existential...

I have caught myself using language that is less than positive.

This week I am sincerely working at reframing the way I look at this particular transition. I know I am in one of the biggest transitions of my life. And I would like to navigate it with a little bit of ease. Maybe a sense of fun?

What is the language you are using with yourself?

I think maybe the pandemic has changed our tone a bit. It has been challenging. There is no downplaying that. It sucked.

It's time to lighten up our tone.

One of my goals starting now and into 2023 is to be more mindful of my speech, my writing, my tone. Slant my vocabulary towards optimism.

In marketing & sales, the goal of language is clarity, education, empowerment & influence.

What words will you use with yourself as we wrap up 2022 and ramp up for a brand new 2023?

May your tone be?confident and optimistic!

Happy Holidays! ???????

P.S. the LinkedIn scheduling tool hit my profile this week. Do you have it?
