You've Seen This Story Before
A stormy chapter ahead for #Disney, with 7,000 jobs affected in the coming days.?
So, what’s an impacted cast member to do? Is there a “FastPass to Happiness?” How do you write a Happily Ever After next chapter for yourself?
1.????Don’t be BASHFUL. Reach out to all who may be of assistance – hopefully it’s sincere and genuine and mutually beneficial, and you know to avoid using the N-word (Networking).
2.????Don’t be SLEEPY to the opportunities around you. Join my LinkedIn Group of delightful Disney alums called “Magic After The Mouse.”?https://www.dhirubhai.net/groups/14197412/
3.????Operate like a DOC. What specific methodical steps might you take each and every day??Here’s a post from four years ago about “What To Do When You’re Between Jobs” -?https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/so-youre-between-jobs-john-rood/
4.????It’s OK to be GRUMPY now and then. These traumatic professional moments have grief stages that naturally follow, and there’s no cutting the line. Be present in the E-Ticket ups and downs and twists and turns, with journaling and other wellness steps to enjoy the ride.
5.????It’s DOPEY to act unaffected. Nothing changes if nothing changes, so be candid with yourself – What new personal skills should I now develop? What new category might now be ideal for my experience set?
6.????Pay attention with whom you’re SNEEZY. You may need to cut that toxic person out of your life.
7.????I wish you HAPPY-ness. Like the sign says at the end of the Radiator Springs Racers ride – “Keep a cap on your radiator and a smile on your bumper.” And, as I wrote in a previous post, remember - you aren’t leaving the Magic - you are taking it with you!
Take heart - you’ve seen this one before. Whether it’s an Easter parable or a Pixar release, it DOES end happily. As the formula prescribes! We're at what Jennifer Zhang reminds us the Midpoint (bad guys close in, all is lost, dark night of the soul!). https://savethecat.com/beat-sheets/downloadable-beat-by-beat-comparison-of-6-disney-animated-classics
You’re entering the Campbell Initiation stage, as you, the hero, cross a threshold into the unknown and face your trials. You will reach "the innermost cave" (central crisis) of this adventure, and are undergoing an ordeal you overcome. And you gain your reward!
