You’ve got mail (the good kind)

You’ve got mail (the good kind)

Remember the opening scene in You’ve Got Mail when Meg Ryan fired up her computer, listened to her dial up tone and heard the words “you’ve got mail”. She was so excited to receive it.?

Aghhh memories!!

Fast forward 30 years and now we get annoyed by an inbox overflowing with emails.?

Back in the day, you’d read every email you got. You’d reply and you were happy doing so.?

How times have changed! ??

Now people don’t even have the courtesy to respond to people they know, including clients.

It’s baffling (not to mention rude and unprofessional)

Why is that??

Time is not an excuse. People have just gotten so complacent and blaze with it.?

So how do you cut through?

I think it’s time to flip the switch.?

If you want to get noticed by potential clients or partners then you need to do something different.?

This is where good old fashionable mail comes into play. Yes the kind that requires a stamp (remember those?)

Imagine getting something that isn’t a bill in the mail. How exciting is that?

The first mail I open is the stuff that looks non-threatening or inviting. (You can pick a bill a mile away)

The essential ingredients are:

  • A bright colored envelope?
  • Handwritten address
  • Personalised
  • Short and enticing visual message?
  • Perhaps a QR or sticker to get more details?
  • Signed?
  • Has personality?and is intriguing

Now I’m NOT talking about a sales brochure or catalogue. Not at all!!?

What I’m talking about is more effective than the Facebook post that 2 people saw. It’s more engaging than the cute image you put on Insta.

Why does it work?

Yeh, it takes more time and effort to ideate and create. But it’s worth it… even if you don’t get an initial response.

  • Because you’ve already stood out.
  • You’re in their mind now.
  • You’ve cut through.
  • Easier to get a meeting or initial phone call with them

So before you fire off another email to a prospect, think about how you can REALLY stand out and get noticed.

Let's throw around some ideas and come up with something cool to get you noticed and win a bunch of new clients. Shoot me an email (and I'll answer it)
