You've got it all wrong about introverts and networking

As a child you quickly get put into a category of either being an extrovert or an introvert.

Extroverts are loud, in charge, and things just seem to always work out for them.

What are introverts supposed to do?

Embrace their own superpowers! What? Yes, that’s right!

Introverts make wonderful networkers if they know how.

This means they can have just as much, or even more success at networking.

Helen Nicholson olson has poured 20 years of knowledge into her latest book “Networking For Introverts” and this week spoke to John Watson hn Watson all about it.

Are introverts in the right place to get better at networking? YES!

Some other key takeaways from this episode were:

"Introverts are actually better networkers than extroverts because of their superpowers of listening and following up."

Being the “quiet one” is not a curse, it’s a blessing. You hear way more than others, and can identify opportunities for you, and your network to capitalise on.

"Anyone can be a connector. Once you realize how powerful of a skill it is, you can start doing it more often."

Being a connector in your network make you a super useful person to know. This will lead to more interactions and more opportunities coming you way.

"Networking is actually quite spiritual. It sends you on a journey of connecting to why you were put on this earth."

We’re all on our own journey to find our right place – our approach to networking, and how we help others could determine how soon we find our own right place.
