You’ve Been Using Your Clue Sheets All Wrong
I started playing Clue when I was six years old. I loved it. The murder mystery, the intrigue, using deductive reasoning to solve a crime...
I remember when the movie came out in the late 80s with three alternate endings, each shown in different theaters. You didn't know what was going to happen even if your friend had seen it. (Talk about a way to stave off spoilers.)?
Here's how I was told the Clue sheets worked when I was a kid: You use only one column per sheet for every game. That meant when someone showed you a card, you just crossed it off. When you played the game next time, you scratched that column out and used the next column, so you got 7 games per sheet and saved some paper.
As I got older, I realized it's better to write the initials of who had shown you which card. That way, you could deduce more information in cards not shown directly to you.?
Recently, I was playing the mobile version of Clue. I learned through the UI that I've been using my Clue Sheets all wrong. You're supposed to use one entire side of the sheet per game and put your opponents' names in each of the columns. That way, you can build a matrix and get more information quickly about who has what.?
Clue is best understood as a race for information certainty. And I had unwittingly slowed myself down.

I'd been putting myself at a disadvantage playing Clue all these years because of a misunderstanding that I accepted without question when I was six.
So, if you're a parent, there's a more important question: What foundational truths are we teaching our children? Are we teaching them truths today that they can use for the rest of their lives?? Or are our own children being taught ideas that will simply poison their minds and hearts???
As my friend John Stonestreet said, "We live in a culture where what was unthinkable 30 years ago is now unquestionable."?
What your mother taught you was wrong when you were a child is now encouraged in our culture: drug use, pornography, self-centeredness, entitlement, vengeance, what's true, and confusing messages about their identity.?
Are we equipping our children with a foundation of Truth, or are we letting fleeting cultural preferences define the fundamental precepts of life? God gave us His Truth, and many people gave their lives so we could have it.? Are we stewarding that gift?
Children are the most precious things God gives us beyond eternal life. Is anybody speaking up for the health and well-being of the next generation??
At TruPlay, we're taking that mantle. If you're passionate about that and want to do it with excellence, fun, and beauty, we want to talk to you. We have an incredible team made up from companies like Disney, Nintendo, Xbox, Call of Duty, Zynga, Leapfrog, Lightside, and many others.?We're looking to add worldclass people who want to bring Truth to the next generation.

10 个月Mind blown! I've been playing the same way you were all my life. Is this why my kids always win? They always seem to know things and I'm like, how did you figure that out? Speaking of #hiringtoptalent, I've had one interview with TruPlay already, waiting on a second one, product ownership and management of Web technokogies. So to put that in a game of clue.. My accusation is David Chenault, TruPlay Games , a product manager for the web.

3 年Loved and still love playing Clue...and I played it the same way and would use initials in the little boxes. Now rethinking my game play!
The Clue Matrix Brent learned about can get complex and messy when applying it to how we raise our children in today's culture. Unless, as he points out we have an agreed upon, ethical and truthful foundation we follow, teach and apply. The consistency of the Bible reassures and builds confidence in our children. It works and has been proven time and again. This the foundation of TruPlay Games
