YouTube's New Partner Program Guidelines: Empowering Content Creators for Success

Hello Readers,

Exciting news! YouTube has introduced a fresh set of qualifications for its Partner Program, making it even more accessible for content creators to earn revenue and engage with their audience. As you might know, YouTube has been tweaking its eligibility requirements over the years, and this recent update opens up new opportunities for all types of creators.

Previously, to join the Partner Program, creators needed 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of public watch time in a year. However, with the recent addition of ads to YouTube Shorts, the eligibility parameters were slightly relaxed. Creators with Shorts videos that gained 10 million views over 90 days could qualify for revenue sharing, even if they didn't meet the previous watch time criteria.

Now, YouTube is taking it a step further to support the vibrant community of live-streaming creators. Live-streaming stars, such as Emily D. Baker, who thrive on platforms like Super Chat and Channel Memberships, will find the Partner Program more inclusive. The latest changes now extend the program to channels with a minimum of 500 subscribers, at least 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or three million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

While these new creators may not be able to run ads until they meet the previous requirements, they'll have access to exciting revenue opportunities through fan-funding features and other monetization sources.

The YouTube team also emphasizes the importance of a multiformat creator approach, encouraging you to experiment with various content types – long-form videos, short-form clips, and live broadcasts. This new approach enables creators to engage with a diverse audience and unlock even more benefits as they grow.

Speaking of live-streaming, the revenue generated through monetization features, apart from ads, is on the rise. Channels earning the majority of their revenue from Fan Funding features saw a significant increase of 20% year-over-year as of December 2022. It's an exciting time for live- streaming content creators!

In addition to these updates, YouTube is expanding its YouTube Shopping affiliate program. Creators with at least 20,000 subscribers can now join and enjoy competitive commission rates while selling products during their streams.

These recent changes and updates are set to be a highlight in YouTube's keynote address at VidCon Anaheim in 2023. The platform is returning as the convention's title sponsor for the first time since 2019, promising even more exciting developments.

We hope these changes will empower you, our valued content creators, to continue sharing your passion and creativity with the world.
