The YouTube Magical Fairy Dust
Regardless what you have been told, this is how YouTube REALLY works: Once you make a video and post it on YouTube, the YouTube Fairy will come at night while you asleep and will magically spread some fairy dust on your video which will give you millions of views.
Jokes aside, I know nobody really thinks that, but lots of creators behave as if this is the way YouTube works.
The truth: YouTube can be a tremendously difficult grind and you, as a creator, have to take advantage of every tool you have at your disposal to grow your brand and promote your content.
There are many ways to do that, and the most obvious one is to optimize your content for search and discovery. The thing is, that while video optimization gets talked about quite often, another important aspect of optimizing your content, is left behind, which is basically like leaving cash on the table at the end of a good poker game.
So what is this secret ingredient people "sleep on"? Well, optimizing your videos is a lot like washing the dishes in the dishwasher, right? but did you ever think about washing the actual dishwasher itself? I know I never really thought about it until someone told me to, and if video optimization is washing the dishes, what is washing your dishwasher? The answer is quite simple: optimizing your channel (not your videos).
According to a recent study, 80% of YouTube channels are investing little to no time in channel optimization. I find it odd, especially considering the paramount importance of channel optimization to a channel's ability of converting viewers to subscribers.
Beyond lack of time, I think that the biggest challenge for most YouTuber creators in this respect is lack of access to professional help. Hiring a professional auditor to review your channel can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars, and most YouTube creators just don't have these sort of funds, and that is exactly why I am writing this article.
In this article I am going to show you a "cheat code" to get a professional channel review for your YouTube channel (you can even call it your own secret YouTube magical fairy dust). So basically, all you have 2 simple steps to follow:
- Get TubeBuddy - unless you have been living under a rock, you probably have tubebuddy installed on your desktop and phone. If you don't have it, go get it right now, its free to download and does a phenomenal job with helping you manage your channel (get it through this link: https://tubebuddy.com/tomnashtv). Frankly, you can do pretty phenomenal things even with the basic free license, but when you upgrade to one of the premium licenses, it really shines (use this coupon code to get a 20% off any premium license when you decide to upgrade: "tomsbuddy").
- Get a Channel Review - TubeBuddy has a brand new product called "Channel Reviews" (https://www.channelreviews.com). It is NOT yet open to the public, but it is now officially out of "Alpha" phase and into "Beta". Which basically means you can get now before anyone else, and get that edge. This tool does EXACTLY what it says: provides you an in depth analytical data driven channel review. The base price for a review is $19 and people can order add-ons on top of that for additional features, (more videos audited, more competitors analyzed, etc) at an additional cost. You get chose if you want your channel reviewed just once or you can set up it up for weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews. It is totally up to you.
I'm excited to finally get this to you guys, after having to keep it quiet for the past few months.
Let me know if you have any questions.
