YouTube 2024: What To Expect

If you're a creator looking to step up your YouTube game in 2024 then now is a good time to prep your strategy for next year. YouTube is releasing a set of new features to help creators get the most out of their content, and a big advantage of maximising YouTube's features is that your channel can get seen more.
Here's a list of some of the features that I will be using in 2024 to help the channels that I work on, grow:
AI Powered Insights: I'm starting with my favourite update and that is an AI Powered Insight tool. This tool will give creators suggestions on topics to create based on insights on your audience. So, it takes the guesswork out of creating content and helps you create faster. As a creator, you can spend hours researching hot topics that your audience might like but this AI tool takes the hours out of it and allows you to spend time crafting the concept. YouTubers at the moment are using ChatGPT but the difference with this is that it has access to your audience and what you input into the YouTube AI insights tool is personalised to your audience. What makes this tool even more powerful is the more you use it, the better it will get over time. This tool is built to find the right audiences for your videos. This not only helps with engagement and views but it can also help with monetisation, if you are looking to redefine your content to attract different sponsors, then this tool can give you great insights into what that audience looks like and the content you need to make.
Faceless Channels: If you follow YouTube as I do, then you've probably heard YouTube gurus talk a lot about "faceless channels" and "YouTube automation". I am seeing more and more of a trend in documentary-style content on YouTube and less in persona content. In the past, the popular YouTube channels had a face for the channel, Vloggers ruled as people were searching for more authenticity and personality when it came to watching content on YouTube and audiences felt they got that when they got to know the YouTuber. However, over the last few years, more and more channels without a host have become popular, as long as the content is well-made and the subjects are interesting, audiences don't mind subscribing. I can see this growing next year, as again, AI tools that help create scripts, motion graphics, voiceovers and images - creators will be using this to automate their content, thus saving them time and money in the process. I've managed three faceless channels in my career, way before AI was around and I would say this is where the art of storytelling and knowing your niche inside out is crucial.
YouTube Shorts: This is something I've talked about extensively, I've done a whole blog on why Shorts are crucial to your content strategy when managing a YouTube channel and it's about to ramp up in 2024. YouTube has developed an editing app called "YouTube Create". It will have everything you expect from a great mobile editing app but that tells me they want creators to push Shorts on their channels. We are seeing this year that more channels are Shorts-only channels and they are garnering millions of views and subscribers. They have also developed a feature called "Dream Screen" which allows you to create AI-generated images into videos for your Shorts.

Globalisation: I am going to end this list with another huge tool they are giving us for 2024 called "Aloud". This tool allows you to generate Auto AI dubbing for your content so it can go out in multiple countries using synthetic voiceovers. This is great in every way, not only does it allow you to maximise your reach but it can save you a ton of money in voiceover artists. Most content on YouTube is in English but 80% of the world does not speak English, which means this is going to change everything. How I am going to implement this into my content strategy is to globalise my content, and make some of it evergreen and relatable no matter who the audience is. I am going to call it the Mr Bean Strategy.
2024 is going to be a big year for creators and if you follow my posts you can see lately that I have been talking a lot about AI creator tools and, well, now you know why. AI is taking over but it doesn't have to be scary, if you embrace it, you can profit from it.
