Hi All,
In 2004, I was lucky enough to attend the National Leadership Camp. This was a camp that was aimed at the next generation of youth. Over three days, we learnt from some of Australia’s most inspiring leaders about resilience, service, passion, vision and values. Some of these speakers included Robyn Moore (voice of Blinky Bill), business leaders and leaders of Australia. This was delivered in a fun and engaging way and formed friendships, that are as strong today, as they were back over 10 years ago. Many of these people that I met at the camp has gone on to fulfil positions as leaders in our community. You can still see videos from some of these camps via the Rising Generations YouTube page.
National Leadership Camp was organised by a fantastic organisation, Rising Generations, a not-for profit group that relied heavily on volunteers (over 100 of them) to make these camps happen. In 2014, Rising Generations wrapped up- after 10 years.
Since that time, I have been repeatably asked about where our leaders of tomorrow are to develop their skills so that they are able to become the best leaders in the future. I am yet to find another organisation that delivers on these core values.
It is this that has over the last two years, has been at the back of my mind- what can we do to ensure the future of Australia is left in great hands? There was only one thing that I can think of and that is to develop a Youth Leadership Organisation that instils the values that we need our future to hold.
I am writing and sharing this, as this is a massive challenge, and a challenge that I have only just started working on and I need help to ensure that this becomes a reality. It is not money that I need, it is support and business leaders that I need. People who share the same passion and are willing to accept a challenge. I am hoping that you may be willing to help, or share this to your networks so that we can leverage our collective strength to gain the support that I need.
