This Initiative Tackles Nigeria’s Asthma Crisis On College Campuses

In Nigeria, around 13 million people live with asthma, and many face serious risks because inhalers are so expensive.

Kayode Akinwumi, an 8-year-old boy, experienced a scary asthma attack on his way home from school.

The exit of international pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, L.P., has worsened the shortage of medications like inhalers, making the situation even more dire.

This is why Temitope Omosebi started the Attack Against Asthma initiative in September 2023 after seeing his aunt struggle with asthma.

A Community of Youths in Northern Nigeria Leads the Charge for a Greener Future

After five years of job hunting, Asor John was searching for a miracle.

That miracle came when his pastor introduced him to the Jos Green Centre (JGC).

After completing their training program, he joined a community of changemakers transforming lives through sustainable farming.

Founded in 2015, JGC has empowered over 1,000 youths across northern Nigeria with skills in renewable energy and eco-businesses. Their impactful work earned them the prestigious 2020 Green Heroes Award.

Abandoned By The Government, a Plateau Community Rallies To Build a Bridge

Nearly 80 million Nigerians live in slums, with inadequate access to basic infrastructure. Twanchit Community in Plateau State was no exception—until they took matters into their own hands.

Meet Tapchin Micha, a resident who no longer has to wait hours for a river to subside after heavy rains.

Thanks to her community’s effort, a new bridge now connects residents to schools, clinics, and homes.

The project was led by local youths and supported by voluntary donations.
