YOUTH MOBILITY SCHEME FOR NEW ZEALANDERS: LATEST UPDATES
The United Kingdom and New Zealand have special arrangements made for their citizens. The nationals of both countries get the right to work in the other through this arrangement. This is called the UK working holiday scheme and the youth mobility scheme.?The first is for the citizens of the United Kingdom and the second is for the citizens of New Zealand.
Both visas have certain requirements such as age, qualification and financial. This has to be met by the applicants in order for their visas to be granted. The youth mobility scheme permits working in the United Kingdom for a period of 2 years whereas the UK working holiday scheme in New Zealand allows working up to 12 months. The age requirement needs these applicants to be 18-30 years of age.
As per the new developments the governments of both nations have agreed to make new changes to the scheme. The new amendments to be made include an extension to the validity period when it comes to the right to work in both nations. The validity period for both schemes has now been extended to a period of 3 years. This also means they work in both nations for the entire 3 years duration unlike before.
An extension has also been made to the upper limit on the age requirement. With this new change applicants up to the age of 35 years will now be accepted. Earlier it was 30 years for both schemes. Besides, there will also be an increase in the number of UK working holiday visas to be granted per year.
