"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment"- ExpertTalk, a VLSI initiative.
ExpertTalk – Meet the Experts on 17th Oct 2020'
?ExpertTalk is back with two eminent speakers, who are going to take you through a ride of knowledge, guidance, and information in the VLSI industry. The stage is ready for all of you, to get clear insights around facts and truth in the VLSI industry, industry challenges in the semiconductor market, the future of VLSI design, and a lot more. As always, the VLSI expert team is humbled to have received so much support from the experts and the VLSI aspirants.
In the previous sessions, we talked about mentorship, collaboration, and selective ignorance. Now it’s time to embark upon a very significant aspect that most of us tend to overlook, i.e. Self-awareness. It is something one has to achieve at one point in life to attain eternal happiness and peace of mind. Let me remind you, this is not an attempt to preach, this is based on conversations I have had with people who are leading a happy life. A happy life cannot be quantified with money or status, a happy life is a good quality of emotional and physical health. Who do you think is the closest person in your life”? Closest would be someone with whom you are spending the most amount of time. It’s you. Why are we catering to the entire world but ourselves? We are all stuck in this rat race, pleasing the world, have we ever taken a step back and asked what we actually want to do? Confusion, competition, comparison, and pride all these are the deterrents in finding your way out to excellence. Despite all those factors surrounding us, if we can guard ourselves with a shield of protection that keeps us unaffected and gives us a chance to just be us that would bring long-lasting satisfaction. We will throw some light upon "the breadth of knowledge vs depth of knowledge."
With utmost pride, we are pleased to share our expert's profile, let’s take a look -
Atul Bhargava
Principal Engineer at STMicroelectronics
Atul, with 16 years of industry experience with STMicroelectronics, has spent years in becoming exceptional in the VLSI design. He started off as Design Engineer, specialized in TFET, FPGA. He worked with different foundries, provided their PDK support to the FPGA group. He, later on, became a senior design Engineer providing standardized Back- end Methodologies to increase productivity. He went on to become the Technical leader, he was the single point of contact for all EDA vendors to IP development teams. He evaluated benchmark and deployed the best in class tools in all domains for memory design. After taking the role of senior staff engineer, began gathering and prioritizing the needs of all tools across groups/sites within CCDS and align them with the DP roadmap. Organized TRM’s / technical presentations by EDA Vendors and ensure the presence of the correct audience so that the designer community can reap maximum gains from EDA tools. While serving as a senior staff engineer, he wrote technical papers and also enables other users to present in CAD conferences the Alignment of Silicon technology information. Along with that, he played a significant role in training and information sharing by work with Methodologists from each team to help them use tools better and as per their need. He is currently serving as Principal Engineer, specialized in CAD Tools, Automation and Flows for Analog Design.
Education – Earned a B-tech degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Did an integrated course in VLSI design from CDAC Pune.
Volunteer Experience – (mentioning some)
He was the part of the technical review committee for AMS track in sung India
Volunteered as a reviewer for Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (GYTI Awards)
He has been a co-chair for Techweek for the last two years. TechWeek is an annual Technical conference that aims at synergizing the technical community at ST India, a great platform for the engineers to present Papers, Tutorials, Demo, and more.
Awards & Recognition – (naming a few)
The best Paper award, Excellent Contribution & Commitment to the Learning efforts at ST India, Execution Excellence Award, Best Leader Award - Technical Transversal, Extraordinary Efforts & Dedication for Organizing Productivity Workshop 2009.
The topic he would speak on - The art and science of taking design to technology.
Abstract - While the technologies advance with Moore’s law, the design has also advanced a lot sometimes incongruence but mostly making the combination a bigger challenge for manufacturing. In this talk, Atul will explain about the various challenges faced and how to overcome when we try to make the state on the art design on a cutting edge technology node.
