Tip 3: Build a Power Network

Surround yourself with people who truly champion your growth.

Sure, you’ve heard it all before—mentors, sponsors, peers can all provide valuable insights and connections. But have you ever done a Gap Analysis on your network?

Think about it—you need more than just career mentors. You need a diverse group of mentors, sponsors, experts, and even collaborators across all areas of your life, not just work.

?? Finances: Already an expert? Great, move on. If not, it might be time for an Independent Financial Advisor to guide you. Personally, having a professional involved to advise on my pensions, my business, and my day-to-day expenditures has been a game changer.

?? Home Life: Is your weekend spent cleaning or screaming at others to help? Hiring a cleaner could free up your time and reduce stress at home. In addition, encourage kids to take responsibility from a young age. My boys learnt to wash their clothes from the age of 14. I worked long hours and often away from home, so quality time was important. If I spent all my time doing everyone else's washing, then that reduced fun time with them. Also, being boys, I didn't want them to grow up learning that a woman would always do these chores for them.

?? Mentorship: Have you considered different mentors for various aspects of your career and life? One can teach you the nuts and bolts, and another can help you navigate workplace politics, for example.

Your network isn’t just about work—it’s about life. Take a step back and assess: Do you have the right people to help you succeed, if not, then it's time to ASSEMBLE them
