Instagram is once again copying Snapchat, yet another strange announcement from Elon Musk, and TikTok is "aging." Time for your weekly social media sum up.

  • The "Friends Map " is coming soon: This new feature, tested by Instagram and inspired by Snapchat, is likely to become official given the buzz it's generated in recent weeks. As a reminder, the new "Friend Map" feature allows users to share their location with friends as well as "Notes" directly on a map. Instagram has successfully copied several features from competitors in recent years: Stories (copied from Snapchat), Reels (copied from TikTok), and now this "Friends Map" (a feature from Snapchat again), now let's see if users will adopt it.
  • It's now possible to check stats of "pro" accounts from the desktop version .
  • Instagram is testing live streaming mini-games .

  • After targeting "influencer news" on Instagram last week, it's now Facebook's turn to remove the "News" tab from its platform, while also announcing that they will stop paying publishers for news - it's not certain that this will impact many people, as an algorithm update had already significantly impacted their visibility, leading to the departure of several major content publishers. (Note: I'm starting to repeat this every week, but it's extremely important not to put all your eggs in one basket: with algorithm updates and regular changes in strategies from various platforms, it's crucial to have an independent strategy by being multi-platform and securing your subscriber database)
  • At the same time, Facebook announced that they will remove the monthly payment limit for creators, and also expand their creator payment program to other countries.

  • YouTube is adding new features to its new app "Create" (its rival to CapCut): audio cleaning, automatic subtitles, new filters/effects/transitions, royalty-free music, and direct publishing on YouTube.
  • Launching a new "Collab " feature, a side-by-side / split-screen format, available for everyone on iOS and Android (another copy/paste from TikTok).
  • YouTube has added "smart reply suggestions " to reply to comments on Shorts.

  • Now it's possible to make audio and video calls on X (available for free users as well).
  • Pinned posts will be "shown" to all subscribers (better highlighting), we don't know yet how this will be exactly executed, but given the significant drop in tweet reach since the launch of the paid version, it would be a good news. Wait and see, we know Elon's announcements...
  • Elon also announced wanting to compete with Gmail by launching Xmail... Well, after all the unkept promises for over a year and constantly wanting to compete with everyone on all fronts, the effect of announcements seems to be wearing off...

  • TikTok is testing a new option to enable/disable automatic product identification in posts that redirect users to TikTok Shops.
  • The TikTok audience is aging, with 40% of users aged between 30 and 40 years old. It's no longer just a platform for teenagers.

  • Telegram has added 9 new features for groups, including enhanced group customization options, group stories, all the details here .
  • Telegram is adding revenue-sharing with a 50/50 split, using cryptocurrencies.

Will AI revolutionize video creation for content creators?

I was already talking about it last week with Sora, the new video AI model from OpenAI (which belongs to ChatGPT).

Not yet available to the general public, but its announcement has generated so much buzz that some Hollywood producers have even paused their projects , so stunning are the results.

Not even a week later, it's already possible to achieve even more incredible results by combining Sora with another AI called EMO (from Alibaba Group), which has the ability to perform "lip syncing", to move the lips in synchronization with the lyrics.

Here's the kind of results obtained, it's just mind-blowing, click here or on the image below if you want to see a modern adaptation of Mona Lisa singing Miley Cyrus ??

Even more crazy examples here .

?? You're Wasting Your Time Creating Content on Social Media [Ep 3/3]

This is our 3rd episode where I explain why you're wasting your time creating content on social media, this week I give you 4 more new solutions, so you stop wasting your time.

Alright, if you've been following this series so far, I'll spare you the chatter.

You're probably catching on to what we've been discussing since the first episode.

I've already explained why you're wasting your time posting content on social media.

Since negativity isn't my thing, last week I brought you 4 tips on the type of content to produce for you to stand out and increase your chances of being seen.

But if you need to catch up: episode 1 here and episode 2 here .

For this final episode, I'm bringing you 4 new solutions.

Alright, let's not waste any more time, grab your coffee, and let's get started!

?? Tip #1: Use trends, yes, but only if they're related to your niche.

Watching and recreating trends is an advice we heard a lot (too much) in 2023.

Especially with TikTok...

But there's no point in jumping on a trend just because it's buzzing.

If it has nothing to do with your niche or industry, it's going to be awkward.

However, if it fits your case, go for it and be creative.

Riding the wave of trends is an excellent way to get a lot of traction.

Regularly monitoring TikTok is one way, but there are plenty of tools to help you, such as Exploding Topics .

?? Tip #2: Publish content tailored to each platform.

Yes, it may seem obvious, but it's important to reiterate.

Because many make the mistake of creating content and simply reposting it on all other platforms.

The problem is that the same content won't be suitable for both YouTube and Twitter for example.

Even though Elon Musk recently highlighted video content on his platform (with the case of MrBeast), X is clearly not (yet?) a video streaming app.

What I mean is that when you go on YouTube, you're not there to see tweets.

And conversely, when you go on X, you're not there to watch videos.

Expectations are different, so the content must be adapted.

This is a very important point to understand, especially in this era where everyone copies everyone else.

It's hard to keep up, and you can quickly get lost and overwhelmed.

And if you're not sure which platform to choose and what type of content to prioritize.

The best way to decide? Don't overthink it, just ask yourself: what type of content do you enjoy creating the most (the important thing is that you enjoy what you are doing).

?? Tip #3: Collaborate / feat with others.

One of the best ways to boost your reach, and therefore increase your audience, is to collaborate with other content creators.

It's simple but extremely powerful.

And it's beneficial for both parties.

By collaborating with another influencer/creator, your content will be seen not only by your audience but also by the other creator's audience, who probably doesn't know you yet.

It's a very beneficial way to quickly get discovered by a large number of new people.

Whether you create video, text, photo, or podcast content, reach out to people who are in a similar niche as yours and propose collaboration.

You'll be surprised by how many people will be interested.

Of course, you still need to follow one rule: aim for creators who are roughly at the same level as you in terms of number of subscribers and views.

Naturally, if you have a few thousand followers, there's little chance that a creator with 1 million would see any benefit for themselves.

Well, business is business.

It has to be beneficial for everyone.

A quick tip for brands: this applies to you too.

Now, it doesn't mean that McDonald's should collaborate with Burger King ??

But it's an advice I often give: for your brand, your business, find other companies related to your industry, who are not direct competitors, and create content with them.

For example, if your business is creating websites, collaborate with a company specializing in web design or logo creation, for instance.

They're not direct competitors; your specialization is coding websites, and there's a good chance that your clients and their clients might be interested in both your services.

It's a win-win, and it doesn't cost much to produce.

?? Tip #4: Share your personal experience.

Creating content based on your personal experience is also a great way to grab attention.

For many reasons, but I'll give you two for now.

Firstly, it creates bonds with the audience.

Sharing something personal, something intimate, brings people closer together.

It's easier for people to identify with you, and it builds trust.

Think about your personal relationships; true friendship is built when we start sharing personal things with each other.

Secondly, because it's difficult to replicate.

It may seem obvious, but this is what will set you apart.

It's not always easy to approach, and it doesn't mean sharing overly intimate stuff either, you know ??

But if it's related to your experience in your industry/niche, or if it adds value: open up.

(By the way, it's even a note for myself, it's all well and good to give advice, but you have to apply it too, I don't do it often enough with you).

Got it? I just did it in that last sentence.

Well, that's a super quick and short example that deserves more development in a storytelling mode, but it's for the example.

I just shared something intimate with you, a weakness that I just acknowledged.

And it brought us closer ??

Alright, that's it for this week.

You're still well-equipped to boost yourself and keep improving!

It won't be long before I start a new series on "The secrets and AI tools for content creators".

Because yes, as a creator, you shouldn't be afraid of artificial intelligence, quite the contrary, you should see it as a huge opportunity.

And at the rate things are going, anyway, you won't have much choice but to adapt or watch the train go by and wake up too late ??

I still see too many people who are afraid, who resist, and who don't know how to make the most of it.

So if it's a topic that interests you: subscribe so you don't miss this next series!

Until then, have a great week, take care of yourself, and most importantly: have fun!

Feeling a bit low energy this week, might need to start thinking about taking a vacation ???
