I’m not telling you to join TikTok.

But I am telling you how it works, so you can decide for yourself.

Where social media platforms are concerned, TikTok is the wild west.

Here are its rules:

  • Every time you post, you are judged on that alone
  • Your number of followers, likes or views is irrelevant
  • A brand new account could go viral with the first video
  • TikTok shows every video to ~200 people to assess virality
  • If it doesn’t do well, ~200 views is where the video caps
  • If it does, it’s shown to ~500, then ~1000, and more

TikTok is the fastest way to get feedback on your messaging, delivery and content.

Which makes for a huge opportunity.

Our followers on other platforms are supporting us. They like and comment on our posts even if they don’t like the content.

On TikTok, you go alone.

Which you can handle.

My friend Kyle has a rule: post 3 TikTok videos every day. He’s training the habit of showing up, learning lots, and amassing millions of views.

Get fast feedback when you use this prompt. Make punchy TikTok scripts from your existing content in seconds.

Your task is to create a 60-second script on the topic of [topic] based on the content I will share. No more than 130 words. You are a social media influencer in the [your industry] space. The language should be [simple, direct, hard-hitting, using words at an 8th grade level or below]. The first line of the script is the most important. This is the hook. It should be a simple, direct line that resonates with a target audience of [audience]. It should not be a question. Use this content as inspiration: [paste blog post, article, transcript]

Great point. I think TikTok is amazing for getting started with social media (or if you're nervous about what your Facebook friends or family would say if you start showing up with coaching posts.) Go where no one knows you and let loose!
